NFL Draft thread

Browns traded up for Miami TE David Njoku.

They won't draft a QB.

Njoku is a stud.

But I don't see how the Browns couldn't move back into the first round to not take a QB. Hue Jackson is going into his second year, after an awful season record-wise. Not sure how much job security he'd have despite what the organization says, if they struggle again. You'd have to think that they'd want to get a franchise QB, and not wait until next year to land that guy, when the staff might be on precarious footing after next year.

Hue isn't the one making the picks. Analytics front office appears to be being given a long leash.

Solid pick for Buffalo, needed secondary help ane White seems to fit the bill. Not overly flashy and I think some wanted King but I like it.

Understood, but Hue has a voice in the war room.

Will be interesting to see which direction they go. I'd prefer to see Cleveland [since my wife is a suffering Browns fan] draft the best available talent, since they are so devoid of talent. But they could have certainly sat at #33 and done that, without trading back in. Would be surprised if it isn't a QB. But then again, nothing is surprising when it comes to the Browns.

Seattle traded to San Fran.

49ers probably will go QB here.

I still think San Fran plans to wait it out for Cousins/next year's draft.

I think most teams are, this qb class isn't very good, the Bears and Chiefs reached big time.

Browns and Jets will duel for 0-16 seasons to get the USC QB next year with 1st pick.

If a year from now the Bills can package two first round picks to get Darnold, then this will have been a great day.

No one is going to give up the first pick next year, you are going to have to be 1-15 to have a shot.

I liked Watson and Mahommes a lot more than Kizer and Tribusky, who were the two most were talking about early in the draft process, before we got to the offseason and teams started getting serious about evaluating the top prospects. I'm totally not surprised that Watson / Mahommes rose to the top -- they are exciting players who will probably be terrific pros.

But this is a weak QB draft, no doubt. At least in terms of top flight talent. Guys like Davis, Peterman, Dobb, etc. might pan out, but this is not a great draft for QBs.

I do really like the picks the Browns made. Maybe Jackson really has a longer leash and they will address a stud QB next season in the draft. You put one of those guys like Watson or Mahomes in there immediately and they get crushed and thrown to the wolves. Not much help on offense. They should try to be ground and pound, imo, until all these stockpiled draft picks pan out. Kessler was actually pretty serviceable. The defense was horrendous last year and they immediately got better with these picks. Love that TE too.

He still managed to put himself in a bad position with his choice of acquaintances, in the best case scenario.
90% of the players drafted last night put themselves in situations like that.

If Conley's name is cleared, what exactly did he do wrong? Went to a hotel room with some girl he met at a bar? Hold the presses... wild man on the loose.

Sure, he could've said no thanks and spend the entire rest of his life only associating with women he knows but is that really how we expect young men to handle themselves at the risk of someone trying to bring them down.

Again, all this is assuming he's telling the truth.

After the Duke lacrosse case, its hard to accuse anyone until all the facts are out.

Agreed. With the exception possibly of Watson the rest of em are unlikely to do much in the NFL imo. Crazy how some of these teams trade up and roll the dice for guys that are very far from sure things.

I don't understand how you trade 2 3rd round picks and a 4th to go up one spot, for a guy who is probably going to be there at 3 anyway..
