NFL Thread - 2018

I know the compensatory pick is at the end of the 3rd round. I said that in my post. Personally I would take the last pick in the 3rd round next year over the last pick in the 4th round IF you knew that pick was going to be the last pick in the 4th round but there is no way of really knowing that.

They won't bother with a 4th rounder. Going through the risk of franchising Foles and then getting a 4th rounder? Doesn't make sense.

I think you overstate their concern about Washington and NY. Particularly Washington which is a dumpster fire organization. Wasn't too far back they traded McNabb to the Redskins. I've read a ton on the topic and the concern about trading Foles to either of those teams has barely been mentioned. The flip side is that Foles probably does not want to go to either of those teams and battle with his buddies two times a year.

The Eagles' primary focus should be on maximizing value. If they can extract clearly better value out of NY or Washington then do it.
I don't think any QB worries about friends on the other team. That's just nonsense

I think the concern that Philly is worried about Foles going to NY or Washington is nonsense.

Foles knows Washington is a mess and he knows the NYG have had a weak OL forever - at least that's what Kaiser tells me. Neither place is an attractive venue for Foles.

If the Pats win today I really don’t understand why Brady won’t retire. He’s won every individual and team award that’s possible to win and nobody is touching what they’ve accomplished in the past 18 years while outlasting his main rival in Peyton Manning. What else is their to prove? Just go live with Giselle somewhere on some winery in a remote area of California.

Let me put a finer point on it for you.

Nick Foles loves playing for the Eagles and the feeling is mutual in Philly Nation. The fan base, probably one of the most passionate in the NFL, loves him, the coaching staff loves him, he's loved in the locker room and maybe most importantly, ownership loves him. He's not leaving all of that to go to a hated rival when there are so many other NFL teams that need a QB. There are no bad feelings here. Almost invariably when a player leaves his team to go to a rival it's because he feels disrespected etc. Not even close to being the case here.

These national NFL beat writers that speculate about Foles signing with Washington or NY are talking out their arse. That ain't happening.

TB-12 method. His post career is going to be selling that method. Him playing till 45 help that.

He isn’t retiring because he is selling the idea his life style allows him to be what he is when it’s really a combination of the rules and his organization.
Plus Brady would want to beat Jordan with 7 titles.
Brady wants to pass Robert Horry’s modern sports record of 7 titles.

This crowd is going to be 70% Patriots fans 5% Rams fans and 25% neutral fans.
Wow last year the Eagles were 60-40% over NE fans.

Yeah I don’t think Washington is going to go after Foles.
Speculation is the Bengals will trade Dalton to Washington and the new Bengals HC will either draft a QB or go after Bridgewater.

You at the game this year ?

No I am superstitious after last year going and sitting there watching Malcolm Butler sitting.
The crowd though is a Patriots home game biggest advantage since Seattle-Pittsburgh in SB 40 in Detroit.
Very little Rams fans there.

If I had to guess today, I'd guess Philly doesn't actually go through with tagging Foles and this is just posturing to see if anyone is dumb enough to trade for him on that kind of deal. But if nobody expresses interest, they won't end up tagging him and just let a team sign him instead, and I would think for almost every team, it probably makes sense to just call the Eagles' bluff.

You pointed out JAX earlier. That's the one that makes the most sense plus they have two 3rd round picks.

Rams are going to need a silent count on critical plays. Wow the crowd is insanely slanted to NE. I said 75% it’s going to be closer to 85%.
I would want the ball first if I win the toss no matter who wins the toss.

Rams D will have to win the game. Big play by one of their stars. I wonder what the prop bet on Suh or Talib getting a personal foul. Between them and Donald, they need to set a tone, Wade knows that as well as anyone

LA Rams have committed the second most roughing the passer penalties in the league and this ref threw the most roughing the passer flags this year.

It will be something to watch.

If they do it at the beginning of the game, it's not necessarily a bad thing, set the tone and get 12 thinking. Straight up the middle pass rush is the most effective weapon against him, and who better than Donald?

A few more of those and Brady is going to be referred to as the goat in the original meaning of the word in a sports context, rather than the way all the millennial cool kids who don’t even know LL Cool J coined it, keep using it when referring to Brady!

Round one to Wade Philips.
He confused Brady.
With that said the NE D is a lot better than last year.

Brady could lose this game 49-0 and he is still the GOAT.
