I don’t blame Pederson for wanting to lose but the only issue I have is how blatantly disrespected his players who played hard and put their bodies on the line.

Players shouldn’t care what he says anymore.
There has to be something the NFL can do in the future.
The Philly coach wanted to lose. Maybe the draft order is determined from the first 15 games or something. So losing the last week doesn’t help teams.
It’s not about the Giants at all.

I'm a lifelong Giants fan, I am personally upset but we only won 6 games. Life goes on.

There are two things that I think are really problematic:

1) If I'm an Eagles fan, that is a really easy way to lose the locker room and, in general, put guys in danger of getting injured. If you are going to tank the game, just lie about Hurts having a bruised quad or something. They had already sat a bunch of guys, just add him on to the list.

2) I have very little sympathy for Goodell, but there is NO way he isn't getting a call from someone at NBC lighting him up (and subsequently where Goodell is calling the Eagles to light them up). NBC pays a LOT of money for that premium slot and the NFL is going to be heading into new negotiations and is looking to make a huge jump. I can't even imagine the people who got to the producers to beg Al and Cris to hold off until the last few minutes to start in on the Eagles.

Hurts was 7/20 with an int, I don't think he needed a reason to take him out, perhaps he should have stuck with him to give him more experience, maybe, I think he wanted to try something different. NBC flexed this game knowing full well this could all happen. They didn't get a 38-3 game, they got a one score game.

NBC chose the least compelling game. They knew Philly had nothing to play for. Why not choose one of the four games that had both teams playing for something?

Hurts can use his legs, though, and it's not like they needed that much from him to win the game.

I get 7/20 isn't good, but he can run and Nate Sudfeld couldn't do do *anything*.

Again, I'm fine with the Eagles tanking, it's just the way they did it that isn't good. You cannot do it in that style on your marquee time slot.

Sure he can use his legs, Maybe Peterson thought Sudfield could get hot and make some throws. I don't think the time slot should matter.

Because that one had the guarantee of being a make or break for either Cowboys fans (arguably the top fan base in the NFL) or the Giants (again, big market) or for Washington (another huge fanbase).

If the Cowboys had beaten the Giants, Texas would attempt to annex Pennsylvania today.

They wanted the closest thing to a win and your in playoff game, and this was it. They knew both teams were 10-20-1 combined.

It's kind of funny to me to see you all arguing this much over that game last night. Regardless of who won that game, the NFC least representative in the playoffs is going to get torched next week. Why so many words typed over that?

The Washington D is good enough that they will be in the game. I don't see a blow out unless it comes late.

Yeah, this is all such a non-issue that it’s trending all over the country and Eagles fans everywhere are skewering Pederson and management.

Everybody saw it for what it was. Well, not everyone.

There is no way Pederson made that call. He already knew Sudfeld stunk.
He's thrown 37 career passes, I don't think hes any good, but you don't know till he gets out there. Garrett Gilbert stinks, he almost beat the Steelers.

There are definitely conversations between NBC/Goodell/Eagles today.

You don't pay a billion dollars for something and let this slide.

All the Eagles had to do was to say Wentz was deactivated because of the fracture bw player and org and that Hurts got a bruised quad or something earlier in the week and it's fine.

Can't do what they did.

He's seen him practice. He stinks, he has stunk, he will continue to stink.
Garrett Gilbert stinks he almost beat the Steelers, I have seen bad qbs come in and give a team a spark for a bit.

HOT TAKE

Garrett Gilbert is better than the Red Rocket and should have stayed the starter.

What if they picked Brown/Steelers, and the Steelers rest everyone and lost 38-7, would they be getting calls?

The idea that this game could potentially change what the NFL gets in a TV contract is hilarious. Great take! Lol.
They flex what they think is the best game, two weeks ago they flexed out of Cowboys/Niners which turned out to be one of the better games of the week for Giants/Browns which was a snoozefest. It happens they aren't guaranteed a good game.

The game was important for two teams. The rest of the country didn’t care. The chances of a good game breaking out was extremely low. I think any of the four games with both teams playing for something, which also included major cities and fan bases, were all better options. I was shocked yesterday when I saw the game was NBC I assumed it would be 1pm.

It's not about what they get, it's about what NBC demands in terms of quality content for what they pay for and the new TV contract negotiations are coming up.

I promise you Goodell is lighting people up today. I know for a fact that he's done so, directly to owners, for stuff way less impactful than what the Eagles did.

I'm on a few Cowboys sites, most fans came to terms with the fact that Philly wasn't winning, and realized it was our own faults for not winning enough games.
