NFL Thread - 2020

The sheer number of players in football has to make it tougher though. Rosters are 5 times as big. Greatly increases the chances of it spreading through a team when you’ve got that many more people involved.

I get that.

There are people all across the country that take far greater risks every day re covid than what these guys will take. Hey I'm not all that concerned about what NFL players do re national health risk. Very tiny fraction of society and they will most assuredly be walled off from the public. . It's up to the players and the owners whether they want to play. Nobody is forcing either party to move forward. Btw one advantage the NFL has over the NBA is playing outside (for the most part).

The Bodyguard is back, but notice they are listing him as a Guard (to replace Brooks).

Edit: Jason Peters' 1-year contract with the #Eagles is worth up to $6M with $3M guarantee, per his agent Vince Taylor of Elite Loyalty Sports. He was signed to play RG after Brandon Brooks' injury, but can obviously play either tackle spot.

Yeah I think they're keeping their options open at LT if Dillard falters.

Yup. Dillard can continue learning from JP but not necessarily keep looking over his shoulder.

Chiefs secured another big guy for their future.

Mildly surprised the Titans paid 4 years/50 mil for D.Henry on a second contract (although they paid big for Tannehill). King Henry is a beast coming off his best season though and makes that offense go. It seems like many RBs aren't getting to a second contract. One of the spots on the roster you can go cheaper.

The free agent RB class of 2021 is currently loaded: Dalvin Cook, Alvin Kamara, Aaron Jones, Joe Mixon, Kenyan Drake, Todd Gurley, Leonard Fournette, James Conner, Matt Breida, Philip Lindsay, Kareem Hunt, James White, Tarik Cohen, Marlon Mack and more.

And so is the RB draft class of 2021. Travis Etienne, Najee Harris, Chuba Hubbard, Trey Sirmon, Brian Robinson, Rakeem Boyd, B.J. Emmons, Elijah Mitchell, Larry Rountree, Chris Evans, Trey Ragas...

It's official...

As of now, only 20 players would be allowed in the facility at a time, until the NFLPA signs off on infectious disease emergency response plans for each club. If protocols aren't met, a grievance could follow. But clubs have the right to set reporting dates within CBA rules.

How is that going to work?

NFL and NFLPA have agreed on testing protocols. They will start with daily testing for the first two weeks, then go to every other day if the positive test rate falls below 5 percent. If it doesn't, they'll keep testing daily.

Getting closer on most of not all issues.

Edit: Players will need multiple negative tests before they’re allowed to be in the building for physicals or team activities. That’s a lesson the NFL has taken from other pro leagues: Take it slow. NFL Chief Medical Officer Dr. Allen Sills says test results expected within 24 hours. The NFL contracted with a national lab to make sure their testing needs didn’t take resources away from local markets, which Dr. Sills said was "a driving force for us." No negative impact on local supply for hospitals, etc.

The NFL and NFLPA have now negotiated and completed all seven of their health and safety protocols. Now just a handful of economic matters and the preseason games to figure out.

Is NY the only state so far to say no fans period? Maybe it was NJ too?

The Eagles announced there would be no fans also.

That initial press announcement was inaccurate. The Eagles are working with the city of Philadelphia and may yet have an arrangement that will allow a limited amount of fans into the stadium.

For Shailene Woodley apparently. Can't decide if that's an upgrade, downgrade or neutral. Guess that means I'm leaning neutral.
Downgrade although Fault in our Stars is an amazing movie.
