NFL Thread - 2020

HS FB isn’t going to be played in most states this fall.
Most are shifting to the spring. My district in NC has paused all fall HS sports. They are going to likely shift FB to the spring.

The NFL should move Thursday night games to Friday or Saturday night.
Maybe add a couple of afternoon Saturday games.
the NFL said months ago they are ready to play on Saturdays.,

They will not move to Fridays as well.

Moving Thursday night football should happen.
Whether it’s Saturday night or Friday night.

Saturday night would be better for the players so that would be fine.

you know the MNF & TNF are carefully choreographed by ESPN and whatever channel now has Thursday (CBS?), they are not moving those games.

they will move (flex) better games to Saturday night for sure, likely a late double header.

adding Friday would be overkill...at least until MLB, the NBA and NHL are done.

other than baseball, i do not know when the other 2 plan to wrap it up.

Thursday night football is brutal football.
The NFL doesn’t play it on Friday now out of respect for HSFB.

The NFL doesn’t play on Saturday during the CFB season out of respect for college football.

If they have no competition they would use those avenues.
If the NFL cares about player safety they don’t have teams play Thursday after Sunday when they can push them back a day or two.

You realize primetime TV isn’t going to be ready in September because of this pandemic thus moving a game to Friday wouldn’t be an issue.

MLB is a dead sport nationally on TV.

Basketball and hockey will be done in October.

If college football is cancelled it wouldn’t harm the nfl to move scheduled Thursday night games to Saturday primetime games.

It’s good for the player safety and good for the NFL bottom line.

i would be surprised if they move off Thursdays too much $$$.

why would they not add the day and add $$$??

just moving the game doesnt add any $$, it likely removes some viewership too.

Moving the games don’t change the $$$.

Moving the game would be about making the quality of the game better.

It wouldn’t remove any viewership people would watch the NFL on any day of the week.

viewership will always be down on a Saturday as opposed to a Thursday, although not as much as usual with covid in play.

regardless, there is just no need to do that, keep the status quo and add.

and charge more $$.

fwiw: im ok with friday-monday if theres no college or HS.

i just dont see them going from Thursday to Friday.

nor do i see them dropping thursday for saturday, when they can just add Saturday.

As much as I love football Friday nfl doesn't do it for me. Stick to sat sun mon and Thurs.

I'm quite sure you said the same thing about non-Thanksgiving Thursday football before you got accustomed to it.

No I was all for that. I watch football four days a week. I need to catch up on other sports and tv shows the other three days.

I'm not a fan of Thursday nights. Feels like too many opportunities for guys to get hurt on those short weeks.

you do realize that mr injury, whose replacement was just drafted...fumbled 14x as a rookie and 16!!!!

16x!!!!

in year 4.

that draft makes more sense by the day.

Daniel Jones...best QB in the NFC East.

Wentz had 28 turnovers in 16 starts in his rookie year. Jones had 30 turnovers in 12 starts. Just keepin' it real.

No.

youre not.

jones fumbled 18x, 11 were lost.

12 INT + 11 fumbles = 23 TOS.

don’t fall into fake statdom like Alsacs and INTs.

Although they are harder to gauge unless you actually watch the games and plays disputed.

Jaguars are trading Ngakoue to Minnesota for a second and conditional fifth-round pick that could go as high a third-round pick (4th if he makes Pro Bowl or 3rd if he makes Pro Bowl & Vikes win Super Bowl). The price went way down as most teams were told it would take two 1st rounders. Ngakoue still has to sign his tender and Minny will have to create more cap space to fit his contract in.

The Vikings now have an elite duo on all three levels of their defense:
▪️Pass rusher: Danielle Hunter and Yannick Ngakoue
▪️Linebacker: Eric Kendricks and Anthony Barr
▪️Safety: Harrison Smith and Anthony Harris

This defense has playmakers.

Meanwhile the Jaguars are loaded for 2021 draft (Trevor Lawrence). Jaguars now scheduled to have eight picks in first five rounds — two firsts picks, a second, a third, two fourths and two fifths, with chance one of those fifths could go higher.

Fingers crossed but the NFL covid testing is going well so far. Through last Tuesday they had conducted ~ 110,000 tests among players and staff and had ~ 465 positives. This figure includes "persistent and unconfirmed positives" so the figure is actually likely to be lower than .46%. None of those positives have shown any type of severe illness.

Watching the Bucs on NFLN I actually think they are the favorites this year.
I like the Saints but the Bucs look loaded on offense and their DL looks good.

Got news for you, Doug. Your team is going to be horrible in 2020, your coaching genius notwithstanding ;)

Doug is just going to be collecting a paycheck this year before getting canned so they can hire a new guy to coach Trevor Lawrence.
