Do you really think anyone who lies up bracket from where we are sitting wants to play Syracuse?
I mean I could see Cooney going on the mother of all shooting streaks after his benchination last game.
And G has been burying obscene shots from distances hitherto replace the mudshark in your mythology.
I could also see Mal ware going on a little bit of a blistering shooting spree.

I mean after the not so likely to brag about finish the boys had they might be primed for wreckless abandon and the "I could care less-a-thon" of all time. Playin loose baby, without a care in the world. House money!

Also, I do recall some dream sequences that happened during the season when for brief periods these guys both individually and collectively looked like "Hey.. they might be putting this thing together afterall" type of segues. Everyone should remember that little burst of terror that was unleashed by DC2 during the 1st Florida St. Game. Right? That did happen didn't it? Yeah... it did and it was awesome. I'd like to order a triple shot of that ok? And there were a few games where Gmac... oops I mean Cooney actually carried the team for a game or two. He was drivin' and dishin' and wheelin and dealin' poppin 3s and puttin' numbers up on the board.

Anyhow... I think you get my momentary delusion...but afterall it's March Madness and you know... anything can happen. We've had the Shi# Fairy hanging around for a while now, isn't about time we help ourselves to a little of that good luck stuff?

Just sayin...

For the first time since the Bahamas you could call this team "rested." They can easily lose to Dayton but I don't think they will. If they were looking at anyone other than Michigan St. I'd feel better though. I did hear Jay Will tonight say that if Valentine gets in foul trouble that Sparty is a completely different team. This team has nothing to lose at this point. Let it hang and let them fly boys.

We were plenty rested for the 1st FSU game because we had 9 days off before that game. I remember because I went to the game and part of the conversation before the game was wondering how the team would play with over a week off. But like you said, something that hadn't happened since we left for the Bahamas.

We are what our record says we are. We are an inconsistent team that has enough talent to sometimes cover up our glaring weaknesses. That makes us a dangerous match to all but the best rebounding teams.

I'm going to give you an "AMEN" on this, my Brotha!

Dayton has an excellent coach too, and he has ample time to prepare his team. I think we win but I don't think any team in this tourney that sees SU across the bracket is too concerned. We are what we are a good team that when making shots can be very good, and needs to be to overcome our obvious limitations.

If they're not concerned, they are not doing their jobs. The zone may not be as potent as in years past - but it still takes time, patience, and execution to beat. Lots of those things get weird in the NCAA's.

Teams with good post players would be licking their chops to play us.

I don't think most fanbases are overly conscious of their opponents. They'll get the highlights of what the opponent likes to do and who the good players are, tell themselves that they have the right players to win the matchups, and go into the game confident they can grab a W if the team plays the right way. I have to imagine this is the case for 90% of fans watching. The other 10% don't have a team in the tourney.

Nobody is scared of us more than they would be for any other games with decently close seeds. Dayton knows Gbinije is the biggest offensive threat, they'll cover Cooney tight, and they know we're weak down low. That's pretty much it.

Spoke to a friend who is an MSU grad/superfan. He isn't happy about the prospect of playing us in the 2nd round. I don't think we can do anything that would really hurt them, but his point is that we have talent and it's just not consistent, but good enough to win a game or two that we shouldn't.

I'd love to be the team to ruin someone's season.

eh, I worry about Dayton first. I briefly visited the MSU blog/forum and some of the comments are that they'll drop 100 on SU and their road to the elite 8 couldn't be smoother. Their fans are hardly quaking in their green and white chuck taylor's.

I think Syracuse is a good 10-7 upset, but I'll worry about other teams after Friday is over.

Syracuse getting in this year is the first time since the first NCAA attack that it seems like the monkey is finally off our back. The vendetta has been called off . This is the beginning of great things , nothin' but smooth sailing. Let the good times role .

I think it's possible to hang with MSU. Wisconsin beat them at full strength with Valentine and they aren't much different than us. We would if beat Wisconsin if Gbinije would of made his free throws.

I think we get hot and go on a major roll. We win the NCAA and keep going, only losing to Golden State in the NBA finals in 7 games as Cooney misses a three at the buzzer that would have won the championship.

I'm a fan of the zone, but OMG, can you imagine what Curry and Thompson would do the zone??:eek:

If you were Pittsburgh, you should probably stop making Syracuse your super bowl and actually win games in the NCAA.

I hope that rationale makes it easier for you to digest their complete dominance over us in the Dixon era. Unfortunately, that same train of thought doesn't ease my pain any. :)
