Nobody wants to play Syracuse

I think it's possible to hang with MSU. Wisconsin beat them at full strength with Valentine and they aren't much different than us. We would if beat Wisconsin if Gbinije would of made his free throws.
I think Wisconsin is better now than they were in early December. I'm not sure we are.

It's been a Jekyll and Hyde kind of year. Predictably unpredictable but not from game to game just from a string of games to another string of games. Opposition has to wonder what they are going to get. Now is the time for us to string some good games.

We played Wisc in the ACC-B1G challenge in Dec. They were playing much better in Jan.

Agree to disagree. I'll say this. I know MSU is good, but we've hung with everyone this year. Most times when people put all their eggs in one basket for one team to be champion like people are with MSU or KU those are the teams that end up losing.

Undefeated Kentucky last year being the latest example.

Any one team that gets predicted to win is going to lose a hell of a lot more times than they win

ESPN asked the question. Shockingly we were not the answer. Even more shocking was that ESPN was "surprised" so many coaches stated Michigan St.

Do you really think anyone who lies up bracket from where we are sitting wants to play Syracuse?
I mean I could see Cooney going on the mother of all shooting streaks after his benchination last game.
And G has been burying obscene shots from distances hitherto replace the mudshark in your mythology.
I could also see Mal ware going on a little bit of a blistering shooting spree.

I mean after the not so likely to brag about finish the boys had they might be primed for wreckless abandon and the "I could care less-a-thon" of all time. Playin loose baby, without a care in the world. House money!

Also, I do recall some dream sequences that happened during the season when for brief periods these guys both individually and collectively looked like "Hey.. they might be putting this thing together afterall" type of segues. Everyone should remember that little burst of terror that was unleashed by DC2 during the 1st Florida St. Game. Right? That did happen didn't it? Yeah... it did and it was awesome. I'd like to order a triple shot of that ok? And there were a few games where Gmac... oops I mean Cooney actually carried the team for a game or two. He was drivin' and dishin' and wheelin and dealin' poppin 3s and puttin' numbers up on the board.

Anyhow... I think you get my momentary delusion...but afterall it's March Madness and you know... anything can happen. We've had the Shi# Fairy hanging around for a while now, isn't about time we help ourselves to a little of that good luck stuff?

Just sayin...

LGO Friday madness with complete abandon Trunk Monkey Ready at all times
As an opposing, coach I would say keep it close, we will win.

I think we get hot and go on a major roll. We win the NCAA and keep going, only losing to Golden State in the NBA finals in 7 games as Cooney misses a three at the buzzer that would have won the championship.

I see the same except we beat Golden State on a Roberson half court hook shot at the buzzer and then Syracuse gets selected to represent the USA in the Olympics. When the match ups are prognosticated there is a flurry of posts roughly along these lines: "ABSOLUTE CAKE WALK TO THE MEDAL ROUND and then maybe one tough game before hitting the gold medal game. BOOK THIS RIGHT NOW!!!1!!!"

We hung with UNC in Chapel Hill and beat Duke at Cameron. We can hang with Michigan State.

I agree, but can we make the requisite plays needed in end of game situations to pull it out against a very quality opponent?

We were outrebounded by Wisconsin 51-25. THAT is why we lost. Roberson had a grand total of 2 rebounds. Would we rebound better against them today?

Lol, I've given up trying to predict what Robey is going to do. He is to rebounding what Cooney is to shooting. Just gotta hope he brings it with new life.

The last few games Lydon has played more at the four and less at the five, directly taking Robersons minutes, so I won't be surprised if we see at lot of DC/Lydon together Friday. DC is playing a lot more now than he did during that game.

I'm a fan of the zone, but OMG, can you imagine what Curry and Thompson would do the zone??:eek:

You do realize that statistically that SU is one of the top teams in the NCAA against 3 pt. shooting.

You must also know that the NBA outlawed zone defenses for decades because they were so effective at holding down scoring.

You are operating under the incorrect assumption that zone defenses are less effective against 3 pt shooting than is M2M.

We are talking about a second round game, not the championship. I don't have MSU winning it all in my bracket. I just don't like the matchup. But I will cheer my heart out for SU in every game, as always.

I'm the same way. I'm usually very realistic about how far I have us going and usually pretty close. The one recent year I totally blew was getting to the Final 4 in 2013. Even though we played well in the BET, I didn't see that one coming. I don't think I picked us to lose to Richmond in 1991 either - sigh......

Correct. DC played a grand total of 5 minutes. Hopefully he will stay out of foul trouble on Friday.

But could we beat the 95-96 Bulls?

Six to midnight every time you hear the word zone. So weird.

Syracuse getting in this year is the first time since the first NCAA attack that it seems like the monkey is finally off our back. The vendetta has been called off . This is the beginning of great things , nothin' but smooth sailing. Let the good times role .
That is certainly the best way to look at it after the ups and down of this season. I admit I did not think we would be in after we lost to Pitt, but now it seems like we have been given a second chance!
