Obviously, Something Happened

Actually if the JRB's policies allow, they should investigate and ask him about it, if he did steal he should confess, and then the JRB (and JB) should do what their policies say they should do. Even though he wasn't arrested, there are other policies that govern his behavior.
And if he says he didn't steal (whether he intended to or not)? What then?

Are you a black male? In a group of other young men in a store where the normal customer is a middle-aged white woman? Perhaps that was all that was needed to cause suspicion on the part of a salesclerk who had no idea who MCW is.
I was going to reply along these same lines. As a white person, I have not had to deal with people being suspicious of me just because of my skin color.

That's the whole point - we don't know what happened. You are assuming something did. You may be right. But we don't know.

OK, I'll play this game.

Let's list all the possible reasons MCW could have been escorted out of Lord & Taylor's in handcuffs:

1. He was caught shoplifting
2. He was exposing himself to customers
3. He was caught having sex in the changing room
4. This was an elaborate viral prank
5. He was arrested by an undercover agent as part of a larger FBI scheme

Did I forget anything? Do you understand why I am making fun of all you "BUT THERE IS NO PROOF!!!!" homers? I'm a Cuse fan, but at least I'm a realist. Get over it. He's still a kid.

I would lock MCW in his dorm from now until the second week of April, and have him strapped on a board like Hannibal Lechter so that Red Autry can wheel him to the Dome for games.
As long as he isn't enrolled in the same classes that Fab was.

Well, so I just learned that a friend of my cousin was working in the store when this happened. He says he did take two items, but upon being caught, paid for them. So end of story, basically.

Edit: the two items would appear to be Christmas gifts. Guess that puts to rest whether our players get paid.

My question now is What are the guys in the background doing?

Looks like some kind of calf/foot stretching exercise. Seems like they are standing on angled blocks of wood or something.

I'm a realist too. And I really don't know what happened. Do you? Did he try to shoplift? Maybe he did. But I don't know. And neither do you. So don't get all holier than thou and get over it on me.

It sounds more like you don't want to know what happened than you don't know what happened.

I'm not saying I'm better than you, I'm just saying I'll call BS when I see it.

I want to know what happened. All I was saying was that I don't know what happened. And neither do you. What don't you understand about that?

I've already stated my viewpoint in an earlier post about shoplifiting and whether MCW should be punished if he is in fact found guilty of anything. I assure you that my perspective on this matter has nothing to do with 'PC.' It also has nothing to do with wanting to bury my head in the sand and pretend that a player from the program I root for can do no wrong.

It has everything to do with looking at facts and interpreting the available information objectively rather than subjectively, or infering what "probably" happened by writing a story in my head and filling in the blanks where there are holes. And if more facts come out [besides a grainy photo and somebody's tweet], then I reserve the right to adjust my opinion, based upon the new information at hand.

When the "news" came out about Scoop Jardine allegedly point shaving, did you accept it at face value? Were you of the opinion that "something obviously occurred" then just because it was reported? That's all I'm saying--let's let the information come out, or not. Either way, we'll have our answer.

FWIW pertaining to Scoop, I was not of the opinion that something obviously occurred due to the root source of the rumor and brushed it off as pure internet innuendo. That story was pure fabrication, this one isn't. Something really did happen here, though, for obvious reasons, I doubt we'll ever truly know for certain...

I don't want to know what happened like many others on this site.

Just like I don't want to know about the times when syracuse sports alumni where at campus parties that were broken up for underage drinking. Slap on the wrist, if it wasn't MCW this would be long over so thets make it that way.

Personally I am for deleting all the posts on it because no new info is coming out.
People have better things to do then worry about one college kid possibly doing something mischievious and maybe with a giving heart.

I was in fyi one time. Just me and a young black kid. The cops came, alerted by store management, and confronted the kid. Frisked him. Made him pull out his pockets. When they couldn't find anything they made him pull his pants down in the middle of the store. To the day I die I will never forget the look on that kids face. They found nothing. And instead of saying they were sorry, they talked tough and then left. No, it's never happened to me. Of course, I'm white.

Indeed mistakes happen, that particular one was obviously unfortunate. It appears he may of had grounds for false arrest and defamation. In any event, the data supports the fact that shoplifting is not race orientated but rather behavioral in nature crossing the entire demographic spectrum...So, with all due respect, I don't know what you being white has to do with the substance of your apparent isolated experience.

Love this...doesn't want any more speculating, but then goes on to speculate MCW is the Robin Hood of college sports and was potentially doing something wrong but had a giving heart.

the kid wasn't shop lifting. That was the point you missed. Would they have made a white kid strip in front of everyone in the store? Of course not.

I am not...black. Are you? If you're not, than don't attempt to make an argument in which you have no idea either. Was MCW in the store with other young men? Perhaps all that was needed was the fact that he is 6'6" in stature and that his presence alone brought attention. Who knows? For you to suggest that since he is an African American, he was singled out or profiled is pure speculation and may have absolutely nothing to do with the merits of this particular incident. The race card though is generally always trump...even in situations when it may be completely groundless...

Talked to Mike's father the other day and he is not in Syracuse where he would be if this was worth his time. Tell the competition to put up their signs," Clap, clap, clap," as Mike is thinking about putting 15 assists up on them and nothing else. He's like every other young kid in America on their free time, having some fun, other than he dishes the rock better than most. Have a great night!
