They were so broke they convinced themselves they could win a case that was unwinnable. Benedict should get fired for this, though the final decision was surely made by someone higher up than him.

I bet there are a lot of agents and coaches celebrating this one. No one is going to try and get around the termination fees without the most solid base possible.

UConn tried to break contract law. Very strange and sad. The UConn students will probably end up paying for this. What a mess.
 
UConn’s official response is pretty funny—it says they “vigorously disagree” with the ruling.

So they “strenuously object” like Demi Moore in A Few Good Men.
I picture Hurley having one of his fits “vigorously disagreeing” with a call.
