Oronde Gadsden II ... the "OG"

What Glennon doesn't even mention or didn't notice is the unbalanced line having the 2 guards to the right of center.
It went Mang, Bergeron, Vet, Bleich, Ellis, and Davis so the defense on that side were confused.
They saw a TE but I don't think he's eligible but they don't know that, the motion, fake handoff keeps the first defender on Mang side close to the line, Mang's route keeps the safety away from Gadson.
Brilliant, Brilliant, Brilliant. Unbalanced line, WR in backfield, motion, fake, wide open. Just wow.

OG did almost nothing last season, now he is terrific: is he that much better, is GS that much better, or are the coaches that much better? Probably a little of the first two and a lot of the third one. I hope the coaches stick around for a couple more years.

Rob Moore, Marvin, Kevin Johnson, Mike Williams, Gadsden….that’s my list since I’ve been old enough.

I'd throw Tommy Kane in there too... even tho his off-field behavior is the stuff of nightmares.

Good observation and well said.

It’s the OC. Gadsden could have contributed last year.

There's one other play ... a WR screen to Pena, who was behind another WR or two. The announcers mentioned that for some reason GS "didn't like it" (and took it himself). But if you watch that play ... after GS looks at Pena the defense closes in and (I think it was ) Gadsen and the other WR were wide open. I didn't analyze it yet on replay (ESPN doesn't have it). But whatever Anae was doing on that play, it's another example of his lineup variations - which are a thing of beauty.

I saw that. I wonder if it was suppose to be a double pass. If so, I wish Shrader just have thrown it himself. Would have been an easy TD.

I think that unbalanced line was to sell the WR screen to Pena. They bit.

Exactly, I was like OMG - Touchdown if he just sticks with that first read a little longer. That's the good thing about GS ... as well as he's playing, he has an even higher ceiling if he settles down with his reads and fakes.
They will review that on tape and I bet Anae turns that into an actual play. Look to Pena, pump, step back hit the post.

All defense's first read is to determine a strong side and a weak side. With 11 on a side you have to have 6 on one side and 5 on the other, Essentially to fine tune that to determine how many receivers and who has a strong side and weak side coverage. It's much easier to confuse college kids with simple visual cues they've never seen or quick motion to switch a strong side to a weak side or vice versa. Giving them 5 seconds to figure all this out confuses them so they often just go zone concept. Unbalanced line looks like that was a 2 TE look with strong side right with 3 WR and a TE, but it wasn't it was a 3/2 with a WR in backfield. Davis isn't eligible because he's covered. So they were light on Mang's side. With quick motion from Pena and Schafer confirms zone and it quickly takes a 'strong' side that really wasn't and puts the 3 receivers on the other side of the field.
The result is NCState had weak side zone coverage on what ended up to be the strong side of the formation, leaving Gadson wide open because his cover man was on the other side of the field. If Ingle ended up covering Gadson, Pena was the 2nd read check down who would have been wide open. Schafer just picks the wide open guys. It becomes wack a mole.

You double OG and that further opens up the dump off to Tucker. Alford’s no slack either. Hoping Cooper can continue to progress
Yup, Alford hasn’t done too much but what he has done is beat you deep. If you help on OG, then its pick your poison between…

Tucker in the flat
Alford over the top
Shrader gouging for 20+ up the hash

None of those three guys are players you want to have to catch after they have the ball in space with a running start!

I really believe that was the play, Schafer didn't see anything right away and if he waited a second and a half 2 players were wide open. I think he slightly panicked or was told NC State is fast so if you don't see it quick, tuck it and run. We'll see that play at least once a game the rest of the way against pressing, fast, and good defenses.

His ACC ranks...

4th in receptions
2nd in yards
T-1st in TDs

This guy is special. And we get one more year out of him. Let's keeping pounding the portal of legacy recruits...

We have a legit shot this weekend. Chunk plays on O and a bend/don't break D.

Gadsden is amazing - just what we hoped for. He's now on track for a 1,000 yard season (507 through 6 games) even with a slow start: 3-36 (LV); then 6-112 (PU); 7-107 (UVA); and 8-141 (NcSt) (P5 games only).

Your second point is the one I'm concerned about - the importance of getting other WR's involved so Shrader doesn't get tunnel vision. O(M)G's (8) receptions were twice the other receivers combined (Cooper, Alford and Mang - not counting Tucker). DGMW it's nice to see Tucker catching the ball - another dimension for opposing defenses. But we need Alford, Jackson and Pena to contribute. Clemson isn't going to let Gadsden tear them up like State did.

We still have 6 games to play I agree we need that 2nd WR. I'm sort of done with Jackson I'd rather just force it with Alford its not like he can't make a play here or there. Cooper can be the possession guy or just decoy we line up to take a defender away go with him instead of Jackson.

Hatcher and Pena are the real wild cards I'd really like to try and unleash those guys but I'm not sure if they are up to it and going against top secondarys.

It seems like every year but 2018 we have had 1 good WR and then nothing else. Even that year Custis was clear cut #1 but Reilly, Johnson, and Harris all had really good stats and we had 4 guys. I don't think its too late for a couple of these guys to improve.

We have to go out and beat good QBs on the road we don't get to win games anymore with our D and playing in the Dome. I think the staff knows Garrett has to sling it and outduel a really good QB outside of the Dome so we'll see more of the WRs in the gameplan.
