OT any bourbon or whiskey drinkers?

This is really the thread we all need right now. Let's get this going again please.

We need tee1222 to do his indexing magic and create a list of all reviewed spirits here. A shopping guide if you will.
Just saw this. I still don't get notifications when someone tags me even though I have it turned on.
About the indexing - it could happen but people would have to go back and edit their posts to something like: [type : scotch - brand: glenmorangie 10 year] to denote type of spirit and brand with optional year, flavor etc

Either way, a couple of thoughts...NineOneSeven, I hate to be that guy but I think Dewar's is a blend - I am fairly snooty with naming things as "Scotch" unless it's a single malt and from the old country :)
Case in point, my favorites are Glenmorangie original 10 year - I always have a beast 1.75 liter bottle hanging around. For the good stuff, I go with the Balvenie 14 year which is aged in Caribbean rum casks.

I don't care what folk say, I need mine with a little ice. My dad was scolded in Scotland when he asked for the good stuff with water. Still. I need it to take a tiny edge off, but I still enjoy the taste. I drank J&B in high school which I didn't know at the time was a blend. I can't go near that stuff now - tastes just change.
If you want to give it another go, get Glenmorangie and throw a few ice cubes in it, let it melt and give it a try. That to me, is one of the easier Single Malts, no fire - fairly mellow.

For Irish Whiskey - it's all about the Dew. Tullamore Dew. But I don't drink it much anymore.
I know that burbon has made a comeback but I don't do it anymore.
I am with NineOneSeven in that Gin and Tonics are a tasty drink. Aside from that, when it comes to Cognac, I go for Corvoisier VSOP. All brandy is nasty to me, but Corvoisier is pretty nice.

Yep, good points. I just don't have the taste for any of the blended scotches I've tried, even the expensive ones with the big marketing budgets. The one exception is Monkey Shoulder. Very drinkable.

More of a beer guy at the moment

When you are 12 hrs out of whack after 10 hrs of negotiation, JW Black in the hotel business lounge is PERFECT

yes! Drank so many Negronis before meals this summer. I like to sometimes substitute cappelletti for the Campari. When I can find the cappelletti. A well made Negroni may be the best cocktail in the world.

Don't even get me started on amaros. Having traveled to Italy 3-4 times a year for work pre-Covid I have collected way too many bottles over the years. I second the Cappelletti recomendation and would also suggest
Knight Gabriello Amaro as well as the old standbys, Ramazzotti and Cynar. Also just picked up a bottle of this which is quite tasty:

there should be a sub-forum for craft beer, bourbon and wine discussion, with trading allowed.

I can ship Trillium.

I am much more of a wine guy but was buying beer for someone and found "Agustiner". Heard of it?

Long story short. It is brewed in a monastery outside of Munich - a monastery/brewery that my Dad took me to back in 1986 when they were living over there. Best beer I ever had. Period.

$12.99 a six but is the first bottled beer I've ever had that is better at warmer temps than ice cold...obviously, the bottled stuff not in the same universe as what they serve at the monastery but still pretty damn good...

Drinks of choice have been Negroni or Boulevardier

The Italian in me likes the touch of bitterness.
Have you tried a Paper Plane? Super nice for summer. Equal parts Bourbon, Aperol, Amaro, and lemon juice. I like Amaro a lot better than Aperol so I sometimes adjust the balance. To make it a little lighter and because they are too easy to guzzle, I'll sometimes also add a bit of zero cal lemonade

My wife just has one of these the other day.
I had a sip - it was Dee-lic-ous!

Wow. Have to try this

I can ship foam and alchemist

I like foam. We can get this going, and I’ve never had Rapture by Alchemist...how is it? I have a soft spot for Heady and Focal.

Btw, double citra, by hill farmstead is my favorite beer.

I‘ll actually be In VT For a week in October.

Any particular trillium beers you like?

No, sounds good though, will have to try it. My daughter had the Aperol marketing account as part of her portfolio in her last job.
