OT: don't want to jump to conclusions

id have troy aikman and Eli say hello from their brunch meeting with the devil, but all the damn lombardi's on the table prevent me from getting a good video shot.

now that Eli will be a dink and dunk passer, his rating will go up. he was always a deep ball gunslinger, hell he hit Cruz on saturday with one, but he dropped it once he hit the ground.

if that connects, Giant ball on like the 7 and the papers wouldve had to find a new talking point.
dinking and dunking doesn't give you a better rating. myth

its harder to throw an INT when the ball is in the air for 10yds and half a second than it is when its the air for 40yds and 2.5 seconds.

Mike Florio just said Doug Marrone is going to be fired at the end of the year on the Dan Patrick Show. He cites new ownership as the reason
That sucks for Marrone as he should be given atleast 3 years to show his system can't work. He isn't a boob head coach who had no business getting a job. He was solid last year, but just didn't have the horses. If Marrone were given a fair chance I think he would get the Bills to the playoffs by his 4th year.

Maybe Marrone will get the Giants OC job next year and when Coughlin retires get his real "dream"job.

how does he know what the new owner will do when no one knows who the new owner is?

he knows that every potential owner has already decided to fire him? silly

Considering the new owner hasn't even been selected yet that is more than a bit presumptuous. You can say likely, often happens, but say will be is BS. And I doubt that's what Florio actually said.

There hasn't been one freaking game played. If the Bills go 10-6 and get a wild card slot, he still would be released?

Bon Jovi isn't going to get it I think it will be that group led by Terry Pegula to keep the team in Buffalo because Goodell is from Upstate NY.

Bon Jovi would move the team to Toronto it makes too much sense. I doubt the owners would want the ego of Donald Trump for the Bills either. I think Pegula group gets the Bills and they stay in Buffalo. If Pegula doesn't get them then Bills will be out of Buffalo in the next decade to either LA or Toronto.

harder to get a decent YPA or TDs when you dink and dunk

bills fans know this all too well

van pelt, holcomb, cpt checkdown trent edwards, fitz, manuel. friggin jeff tuel when manuel gets hurt again

asterisk

manning was good the last time they won. he doesn't suck every year. just most years. when he doesn't suck, they win it all because the giants have some deal with the devil
I'll see if I can talk to the Devil and get the Bills a seat at the table.

what we are hoping for, what the gameplan is supposed to be is...

dink, dunk...and homerun ball.

this should cut down on the INTs by not only the dink & dunks, but now the theory is that when the play is called the WRs are told 1 route to run, not 6 with 4 reads to make when running it...which led to all kinds of fun.

word leaking out of camp is that 80% of his INTs last year are being blamed on the WRs, but nobody is going on record saying it flat out.

although randle did say that he ran wrong on 9 of them, cruz admited to 5 i think.

and then you get nicks not caring and RBs turning the wrong way on screens...good lord.

manning might be one of those high risk high reward QBs with incredible timing for when it pays off

those two miracle passes that won him super bowls just happened to come at the best possible time

he kinda reminds me of derek anderson, jake delhomme, and fitz but better. guys that wisely say " it, might as well try to throw it through people, blaze of glory"

or maybe like a poor man's kurt warner. high variance passing game.

i don't know who to compare him to in football.

giants are weird. they've scored 12 more points than their opponents since tyree

Eli is a conundrum for sure.

If he is just avg for 5 more years, he will retire with ridonkulous numbers in yardage, TDs and yep INTs (he's making a good run to catch brees, but we won't talk about that because the media tells us only Eli throws INTs and not the great drew brees, but I digress)...and will likely be called a compiler.

Then they will look at the (at least) 2 Lombardi's and say...well, the defense won it.

Then look at the (at least) 2 MVPs and say...they always give it to the QB, Tuck should've won both.

The guy just wins and puts up stats, I don't know what else he can do.

Peyton is 'The' Face, so when Eli acts as a Face...he gets no love.

Yet if he turned Heel, he'd be crucified.

Its like he's a Jobber who somehow shows up in Wrestlemania every few years, uncomprehendingly Wins...and it pisses everyone off to no end.

The defense won you guys SB 42 that Pats was an all time good offense and the Giants DL played out of their minds and held the Pats to 14 points. Eli won the 2nd SB he controlled that NE defense.
Eli is Schilling good but not the best from their generations by post season excellence will barely get each of them into the HOF.

Teams could do a lot worse than to hire DM. I would hire him if I owned a team or was an AD at a place like Kansas, Purdue, Illinois, Virginia, Tennessee or many other places.

I am a Giants fan but I think the Bills will do well enough to cause a new owner to keep the staff around. The GM is another story. Depending on the new owner the new GM may not get to make that decision.

Doug is not a college coach and he knows that now. I can't see him coming back to college ball.

i don't have a problem with Doug on any level really, I appreciate what he did here. he decided to leave and I was ok with that. when I watch the bills I just see the same problems as we had, bad penalties, bad turnovers, and curious calls on offense. in college you can get away with a bit more, but in the nfl you just can't win if you are negative in penalties and turnovers. I think he is a good coach, and probably has a lot to offer on a pro staff, I just don't think he is meant to be a head guy at either the pro or college level. I also disagree that in the nfl you need to adhere to the 3-4 year minimum for a guy to implement a "system". roster turnover in college is very slow compared to the nfl, I don't think you need longer than a year or 2 in the nfl to know if a head coach has a good plan or not.

Doug would coach college in the SEC I think. Let's be honest that conference is a mini NFL with no salary cap. I think Doug would be a perfect fit for an SEC school. Down there you can be a dick as long as you win. They don't care about much except the winning. And at pretty much most of the SEC schools the recruits come to you these days (Vandy and Kentucky have it hard, but the rest have it made.) I could see Doug grabbing an SEC head coaching job if it was offered to him. But do I see Doug coaching in the Mountain West, Big 12, the old Big East or even an ACC school...no friggin way. But otherwise yeah he will be an NFL assistant if/when he is let go from Buffalo

This is a really silly comment considering he completely turned around our program in just four years.

that eli manning yes. if he has a good year this year, maybe he can pass jake delhomme or jason campbell or brian griese in career regular season passer rating
You and rating's have a big problem, Terry Bradshaw would have had terrible QB ratings, all he did was win 4 super bowls.

you are acting like no one else could have, with increased resources and other advancements it should have been turned around and I think he did ok.

And you're acting like it's so simple a caveman could have done it.

A few people could have accomplished what Marrone did in such a short period. But no one who isn't "meant to be a head guy at either the pro or college level."
