Agreed. Merely pointing that out. Tragic regardless.I don’t think this is a pre existing issue. I believe they think it’s commotional cortis

Thank you - do you know if there is a certain level of care that has to be offered? Just curious and too lazy to look it up.Upstate Medical Center is one. My brother in law was airlifted there after a major snowmobile accident about 10 years ago.
Here is a NYS list of all 1, 2 and 3 Trauma Centers. Hope we never need to know first hand.Dumb question but when they say a medical facility is a Level 1 Trauma Center what does that mean? Are any of the Syracuse facilities Level 1?
Considering there is a certification involved, I’d say yes, but too lazy myself to see exactly what that looks like.Thank you - do you know if there is a certain level of care that has to be offered? Just curious and too lazy to look it up.
The arriving EMS team always has the option to call in a landing zone as well for an airlift in critically time sensitive circumstances.it shows you that time is a big deal.. if you get hurt around here and need one you are an hr or more away by car. even in the city with traffic you wont be far distance wise but still take time to get to one.
Re time, I read somewhere that every minute...one minute...between the heart stopping and using an AED reduces survival by 10%. That's insane. My mom for example was found approx 12-14 min after she suffered a heart attack when walking her dog and she really never had a chance at that pointit shows you that time is a big deal.. if you get hurt around here and need one you are an hr or more away by car. even in the city with traffic you wont be far distance wise but still take time to get to one.
Yes certainly appears that way, secondCorn on the list which I thought was first at first was upper cervical neck injury
My son was a teammate of George Boiardi, Very, Very sad. All the parents felt it could have any of our sons. The only consolation was that he died doing something that he loved.Yes. In his case it was a shot to the chest. Senior and one of 4 captains. Hopefully Hamlin has a better outcome. They were doing cpr right away which prevents the anoxic brain injury until you can get additional care. It’s so random and shocking. If you have a chance learn cpr. You never know when you will need it.
George Boiardi, 22, Cornell senior and lacrosse player, dies after being struck by ball during game | Cornell Chronicle
George Boiardi, a Cornell senior student, was struck in the chest with a lacrosse ball late in the fourth quarter of a game against Binghamton University on March 17 at Schoellkopf Field. He was rushed to Cayuga Medical Center, where he later died.news.cornell.edu
I don’t get this take. I played football in college and suffered terrible injuries including torn ACL and concussions. The game is not dirty. It was not a dirty hit and the player's understand the risk. I have news for you, we would play anyways. What do you mean by clean up the game.Way overdue ...got to clean up this game. Somehow.

Note- this happened a long time ago and in no way trying to make this about me - it's just the only frame of reference I have
Yeah it has. The medical care and attention Gathers received in that game after collapsing was almost non existent.Reminds me of when Hank Gathers dropped dead on the court. I remember watching that game live. Medical staffing and procedures have come a long way since then
Thanks. Like I said, not at all trying to make it about me, but its a frame of reference I can apply in a space I otherwise have very littleSo sorry to hear this, my dad had heart issues his whole life and because of it I always kept remembering that I had heard that like 90% of people that have a heart attack outside a hospital do not survive.
And something like each minute you go without CPR or treatment post-heart attack basically was like 10% reduction in chances of survival (which is what I think you're saying).
Basically, if you have a cardiac arrest and aren't in immediate proximity to treatment, it's a long shot (which, I guess is obvious).
I'm really sorry about your mother.
Yep the same happened thing with Mike Leach unfortunatelyRe time, I read somewhere that every minute...one minute...between the heart stopping and using an AED reduces survival by 10%. That's insane. Upstate is same. Actually it sounds like the Cincy Hospital he went to was about as close as Upstate is to the Dome.Dumb question but when they say a medical facility is a Level 1 Trauma Center what does that mean? Are any of the Syracuse facilities Level 1?
Incompetent ghouls. What value does Roger goodell add? Luckiest man in the worldIf the coaches didn’t step in they would be playing right now. The league stops for nothing.
Cornell lacrosse defenseman back in mid 2000s took a shot right to his chest in between heartbeats. Immediately dropped.Commotio Cordis?
so the fact that the 5 min thing seems to have been completely made up? sounds like they were all just kinda wondering around wondering what to do..Incompetent ghouls. What value does Roger goodell add? Luckiest man in the world
Reason #1 why battlefield injury survival rate has increased dramatically for US troops. They try so hard to get the most seriously wounded to a hospital within an hour.it shows you that time is a big deal.. if you get hurt around here and need one you are an hr or more away by car. even in the city with traffic you wont be far distance wise but still take time to get to one.
