OT: Stetson Bennett was in school for six years and doesn't have a degree

Maybe after the first national title it was de-emphasized? I don’t project should or shouldn’t for others, especially if their plan is legal/working/lucrative.
Don’t let schooling interfere with your education

You could say the same for Jalen Carter who had people throwing around character issues (yes this was before the accident) yet nary a whisper about Bennett and his character issues. We see him as being brought there to "spin the rock" but he came as a walk on first .. hell he wasn't even announced the starter the first national title season right out of the gate. Knowing you don't even have a football scholly shouldn't at least getting a degree be a point of emphasis? Bear in mind he was either at another school .. CC or had walk on status his first 4 years of education.
Yeah, no doubt. I was more or less just busting chops. At the end of the day, I think the idea of big time college football being a product of higher education opportunities is very limited.

Wasn't this the kid charged with urinating in public in the past? Not exactly shocking that he hasn't earned some kind of degree yet.

Is anyone really surprised by this? The SEC is not known for it's academics...

Is that really a litmus test for you? I don’t think I know an adult male who hasn't urinated in public.

My wife thinks he probably changed his major from something like Athletic Field Design to Nuclear Engineering and had a lot of make up work to do.
Even still… even with changes of majors of study, according to the ncaa a student athlete must meet standards of progress toward a degree in order to remain eligible to compete in athletics.

Not that I puta lot of stock in US News rankings outside the top 25, but did you know Georgia is higher ranked than Clemson (and Syracuse)?….In addition to Florida and soon to be Texas

I do but we both know there is a distinction between academics and academics for athletes.

When you have folks that run business including restaurants in Athens that talk about what a he is and some of the bullshit he pulled it would open your eyes. He won't last in the league more than a couple seasons at best. His discipline is awful .. he played on a team with one of the best defenses in recent memory ... I probably could have quarterbacked them to a title.

When I was in school, the joke about Clemson was this -
What do you need to get accepted at Clemson? A pulse.
Yet their acceptance rate which is a big driver in evaluating a school is far lower than that of SUs … some people love passing stereotype as fact.

Oh, times have changed. I was talking about my college years; we were borderline Top40 back then. Even schools like Miami, Illinois, Southern Cal were a joke, compared to us.

Yet folks still think that way … times have changed and in some regards folks were wrong to begin with. The superiority complex never expires I suppose.
