OT: The Kyle Orton Era begins in Buffalo...

I just went all Pentecostal in my office just now.

Seriously, this move had to be made. I get Marrone giving EJ a chance at redemption in the Houston game but on a team loaded with talent, you can't have a QB who performs as bad as EJ did these past 2 weeks and not make a move when you have a high paid veteran QB behind him.

Orton isn't going to be Peyton Manning but he can at least make pre snap reads and NFL throws. All he needs is to be AVERAGE and Buffalo has a shot at the playoffs.

Just sucks that we've already been sabotaged to a 2-2 record when this team should be 3-1 at the very least.

Are you talking about the Bills, Cuse, or both?

Excuse me while I try to convince myself that a guy benched for Tebow is going to win me a Super Bowl. It might take me a while but I can get there.
Just tell yourself he's the Dallas backup who threw for 300 yards in replacement of Romo. That's what i'm doing. In all seriousness, Orton isn't good enough to lead a mediocre team to the playoffs but in Buffalo he has a defense that will keep him in games and playmakers all over the field. We might see a few more sacks than we're used to if the O-Line doesnt step up but Watkins-Woods-Williams and Chandler should be able to make a bunch more plays that will in turn open up the running game more.

Bills should have waited a year for Teddy.

He can't make all the throws. Deep balls and balls with a lot of velocity to the outside shoulder on the sideline, he can't do it. But as long as you can keep him from getting his head taken off, he won't lose games for you. Add in some playmakers and some weeks he will look really good.

I think this is a good move for Bills fans.

This. I watch other QB's read the defense before the snap and know exactly where the opening in the defense is going to be. There was a play in particular yesterday where you could see there was a blitz coming up the middle. Spiller swung out to the right UNCOVERED and EJ tried to force it into Chandler in the middle of the field, incomplete of course. A smart QB would have recognized that and gotten the ball out to Spiller immediately.

And don't even get me started on all the balls he throws to receivers who are only half way into their routes and not looking for the ball yet. That moron Solomon Wilcots kept trying to place that blame on the receivers. Should they be running their routes constantly looking at the QB???

Orton gives them a better chance for sure, which goes to show how bad Manuel actually is.

How about the JJ Watt pick six where Watkins was wide open but nah, the read is FJax so thats where the ball is going even though the play was completely blown the **** up. At the very least, eat the play, run ahead for as many yards as you can get and then kick the FG. That play was totally absurd.

Kyle Orton? Yay!!

heres a spoonful of sugar to help the medicine go down...drew stanton was also cut for tebow and hes 2-0 this year.

Shocked...

That the announcement didn't include a knee injury to EJ.

Well that didn't take long...
When your QB has a QBR in the single digits 2 games in a row, first time since Brady Quinn, its a problem haha.

I have a feeling Marrone got an earful from some players yesterday and today. Watkins and Woods were both visibly annoyed throughout the game.

after throwing that last pick into double coverage Manuel walks over to Marrone who just turns and saunters aways from him.

You know, it's not too late for Buffalo to make a run for glory with Tebow. It's really not.

Would have been better off drafting Nassib in the 3rd round before the Giants got him in 4th.

He has more playoff victories than Orton. ;)

This is exactly what EJ and Buffalo both need. EJ was drafted to be a backup while Marrone and Hackett could tweak his mechanics and develop him into becoming a starter. Now he'll have a chance to make the tweaks he's desperately needed while starting Orton is last ditch effort by Marrone to save his job.

I think the most likely ending here is that Buffalo will miss the playoffs, Marrone will be fired, and we will never see EJ again, but I'm sure Marrone is hoping to hang onto his job and develop EJ into becoming the starter again down the line.

It wasn't that spontaneous imo. They gave the guy $11m. They couldn't play him right away or after a win. The "too soon" mob would've erupted after a single loss. At 4-5 it'd be pointless. It has to be now.
