Our new Co-OC and QB coach

I’m assumimg he meant that HCDB won’t hire a dedicated ST coach. Just my guess.

Well, now EVERY team needs to hire an extra coach, so why not have a dedicated ST guy?

Sterlin Gilbert is the actual OC/QB coach at South Florida. I doubt he gives that up to come to Syracuse and be a Co-OC.
He would need to be the guy.
But from what I can find, he is only making 100k at USF. Surely we could give him more money than that.
Co OC versus sole OC shouldn't be an issue. If his goal is to be a HC, all Dino has to do is point to Lewis to show that our job could be the final step before that, especially if it means a pay raise.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh that makes sense. Thanks for clarifying. I think you're right and I read it wrong.

I think the prevailing thought is that it's better to have a focus on other areas - and that ST only coaches are a vestige of the past. I don't know enough about how HCDB wants to spread around the duties to know why he specifically doesn't want it - just remember reading a quote from him ruling it out.

He would definitely get paid more at Cuse
I know that Syracuse as a private school doesn't have to publish its salaries, but do you coaches have a ballpark figure for what our coaches make?

I would ballpark it at more than USF can pay. They get 2 million a year from their TV deal. SU gets ~22 million a year from TV deal. Everything I've heard indicates that SU is willing to spend more than they have in the past to be competitive and keep Babers happy.

Mizzou fired Barry Odom, so Dooley might be available again.
