We were #26 in the final poll in 2018. Also don't forget that #10 ranking in 2016, when when we made the Final Four. Awful.

“Another” as in we’ve been ranked many, many times in the Top 25 final poll.
LOL.

About what I expected from you. Final Fours, Sweet 16's and Top 25 rankings don't fit your narrative. Sorry.
How about regular-season trends with more data to use as where the program really sits?

How about NBA draft picks (or lack thereof) over the last 3-4 years? That shows you where the talent level is in the eyes of the professionals.

There is enough data for me to go by that tells me the truth, rather than the snapshot analysis of the inside straight draws we've pulled as a 10+ seeded team.

There's got to be a happy medium between everything's fine and everything's a pile of dung. Clearly not everything is fine and clearly not everything is a pile of dung because this program has too many advantages to be a BC-style pile of dung. But we ain't generally trending in the positive direction.

What’s the truth? You keep pointing to regular seasons losses. I’ll stick to the big picture. The post-season matters. You know what the national media is saying? Jim Boeheim did it again. Another great run. That’s the truth.

We can't ignore the 1,000 other transfer players looking for a team. When the music stops, we will get some.

Joe
Buddy
Benny
Jimmy
Jess
Sid
Sweet 16 and probably another Top 25 ranking. But that doesn't matter?

Are you ever happy?

Kansas, Louisville and Arizona are about to find out what it's like to have to recruit with sanctions.

We won’t be top 25 without a real lead guard. I will bet you that. we will finish with 18-20 regular season wins overall and 9-11 ACC wins. That’s our ceiling.

next year? Worry about that when the roster is final.

Yes, the postseason matters. Absolutely it does.

Putting yourself in a position to get to Elite 8's & Final Fours matters, too.

I don't care about the media. Who cares about the media? I care about talent, and the level of the program.

We haven't been ranked regularly in 7 years. We haven't received a Top 4 seed in the tournament in 7 years. We have had 1 NBA Draft pick in three years after almost 2 for a 7 year stretch from 2010-16.

The level of the program has fallen. We have recruited exactly 1 Top 50 player to come and play for us in the last five years -- and he isn't even on campus yet. What more do you need to see?

Well the media reflects what’s going on in the program. If we are in the Sweet 16 or make a final for run that is reality. Perception matters. Nobody cares about the regular season. You are talking about preseason rankings which don’t mean anything. If we finish the season ranked in the top 25 will you dismiss that too?

“Another” top 25 ranking? We’ve been ranked like 5% of the time (mostly in November before the games really start) for the last 7 years.

correct. Another.

right now I expect our roster to look like this.

Joe
Buddy
Chaz
Jimmy Jr
Marek (Jim bribed him with pizza and told him that he won't be able to find NY style pizza in Europe)

We have not been ranked in more than 2 full seasons. What does another mean? Do you think we'll be ranked at the end of 2021? If so, congratulations to Jim Boeheim on his first "AP Final Ranking" since 2014.

*edit* I do not count coaches polls as being ranked, but Syracuse finished the 15-16 seasons as #10 in the coaches poll. The AP stops before the tournament begins.

Again, we finished the 2016 season ranked #10. Why do people pretend that didn’t happen? Finished #26 in 2018. Will probably be ranked in the final Top 25 next week.

Another, as in more than one. Like "another Sweet 16".

I love the post season success that we've had. What's concerning to me is you don't seem to care at all about the first 30 games, just the last few. What's more telling of the state of the program?

Syracuse fans are used to being ranked during the season + having good post season success.

We’re Syracuse basketball, we’re supposed to be a staple in college basketball. is a dominating loss in the sweet 16 as a double digit seed really our standard now? The drop off in talent the last few years is absurd, a end of the year top 25 ranking because we beat san diego state and west virginia to finish 18-10 is not a going to make the fan base happy, sorry.

No, I care about the first 30 games. But I'd rather the team play their best basketball at end of the season, than early on, which they did. This team lost their starting center 1 game in, and thought they adjusted pretty well. I'd consider the season a success with a Sweet 16 run.

I agree. 2020-21 was a success, given the circumstances. However, Syracuse Basketball has been mediocre since the self ban in 14-15. Post season success has been "surprise" post season success, not "expected" post season success.

4 games over .500 in ACC play. That's hard to look at.

Kansas got beat by 34 in the 2nd round. Kentucky, Louisville and Duke didn't even make the tournament. Michigan State lost in the play-in game. Virginia lost to a 13 seed in Round 1. We lost to a 2 seed, and #6 team in the nation. That's college basketball.

Have they done that consistently the last 7 years? no. you’re allowed to have down year here and there, what we are in right now is a downward spiral. those schools still land high level recruits, we just lost our last top 100 recruit to the portal until Benny gets on campus. there’s a difference.
