I said we better get some transfers this offseason not today or next week.

If we don’t then that is a bad job.
It’s not a bad job till it doesn’t happen.

Losing Tape hurts for competing next year though.
Well the coaching staff is 0 for 2 so far.

This is such bull$&&& I’m over next year already. How can coach K call JB a friend and do crap like this?
Unfortunately BC he can ... it’s Duke and coach K. No matter how much you hate them, people are mesmerized by the program and him and it will never change. And that Allure of SU just isn’t the same as duke. Trust me I’m shocked about this as well.

Adding a grad transfer big is the least of our worries. Tape would’ve been a nice fit, but it’s a no brainer for him to go to Duke over us.

What exactly do we have for him next year? A ton of PT? No. A chance to be a top 10 team? Nope. Tourney team? Nope. Family can come to all home games? Nope. Spotlight games? Nada. Good guard play and a system to feed the ball inside? Nah

Why is anybody surprised by this?

We need so much help outside of another big for a season.

We do have PT available for a big as I don’t see Sidibe staying out of foul trouble but I agree with everything you said.

Why would any guard want to grad transfer in here? We have 2 incumbents who won’t sit unless hurt or it’s a blowout.

We need traditional sit out a year transfers.
We have 3 open scholarships that if I set the O/U at 1.5 of them being used this offseason on actual scholarship players and not walkons put on scholarship I would take the under.

You want to make the name public so Coach K can snatch him out from under us?

Ha! Seriously, though, if we land a transfer at this point, I doubt he’d be good enough for Duke.

I’m not that worried about Center. I think it’s reasonable that City Bay makes an additional jump next season and Edwards is able to give us back up minutes.

I’m more worried that we don’t have a dynamic scorer and we don’t have a reasonable option at SF.

Look its Duke so you knew once they got involved it was gonna get tricky at best. That said it would be nice at some point to actually beat them out for a recruit again. We have to be 0 for our last 15 head to head.

beat them for jgiii

Can you blame a kid to go to Duke...ever? You get to be on television...every...game! I’m happy for the kid, close to home. Be interesting if he plays over the new 5star center they have coming in

let's be clear, K didn't do anything wrong. Not to JB and not to Syracuse. He got a kid he thinks will help him and Duke. Exactly what he should be doing. They actually have an opening at the 5. Still, we got these guys at one time. I am not near as down as some on the board for next year with the team we have. I was a fan of the program in 1986 when we lost Pearl, Raf Addison and Wendell Alexis. We went to the NC the next year. No one saw that. I actually like the kids we have back. Time will tell.

That team didn't lose 14 games.

We weren't desperate for a center, but we are one injury away from desperation. There's no question the depth would have been nice. I really wanted Tape. He offered something different than the rest of our centers in terms of an imposing body type and a polished offensive skill set.

Sidibe finished the year strong. I'm happy about that and it's reasonable to hope for more of the same. However, as it stands, Edwards will not be able to redshirt next year and that would've been key to his development. I also would have liked the luxury of bringing Ajak along slowly. Sidibe's always gonna be in foul trouble and we're gonna see more of the young centers than we want.

I think coronavirus was definitely a factor in Tape making this late shift to Duke. I think we would've sealed things if somehow Hughes stayed, but that was always a long shot. People might disagree on whether it mattered to get Tape, but one thing I think we all agree is that SU could really use another recruiting win.

You know Dasher you can look at it that way. Coach K is bring in 7 new players with the idea that some of his players will leave one way or another. His way of competing by bringing in the top players every year is remarkable but at what cost. Will he have a better well round team or will he have made promises for playing time to the players he recruited last year and the ones he recruited this year. Does he develop players or just use their given skills and hope they leave after one year?
Will he actually play 13 players?

It does seem like he conveniently arranges for players that have lesser value to the team to leave. Results speak for theirselves. His teams are in the top 2 to 5 in NCAA almost every year (not this year though).
Along with the one and Dones, I do not like the way he stacks his team.

I would rather have a player on our team that wants to play against the bluer bloods and beat them. I am looking forward to Dior coming into play. Just. Have to wait for him. I know that Boeheim has employed similar tactics to clean out the end of the bench. Coach K does it almost every year. Used to not like Kentucky for the same reason I do not like Duke.

1987 had the number 1 or 2 recruit in the nation in our recruiting class in Derrick Coleman.
I mean if we had a 5 Star stud in this class I think people would be a little more optimistic.

Our biggest issue right now is talent.
I think if you give JB talent he can coach it well and get a lot of it.

We don’t have the horses. To compete with the best in our conference. Tape was just going to give us more quality depth.
His loss isn’t a back breaker but if we lose Hughes to the NBA it’s basiclaly relying on Braswell or Guerrier to be elite.

Our backcourt will win some games and lose them as well.
If we lose Hughes I predict 17-14 next year. With him 19-12.
