By loyal, I meant more likely to place greater importance on the length of recruiting involvement, and less likely to be influenced by a guy like Paypal Cal. They seem like high character guys.
are you gunning for most posts ever or something?

we will get him

Jumped up 78 spots immediately into top 25 ranking and now 5 star status.

"Some kids, some coaches, and some parents like to complain about their ranking. Akok Akok and the people around him do not fit that mold. With that said, they probably should have, because the performance he put on this week made us look silly. So silly in fact that we did something we almost never do, and bumped him way up the rankings before an official rankings release. Akok was jumped 78 spots up to No. 25 and was given five-star status, that is how good he was.

In helping Mass Rivals to some big wins, Akok was incredible. He blocked everything at the rim, hit threes, created off the bounce, and showed the versatility on both ends of the floor that make him such an intriguing big man going forward.

Given his length and athleticism, combined with his mobility, Akok can fit in at either the power forward or center spot, and he is a match up nightmare no matter where he is. Very few prospects have his combination of defensive ability along with his offensive game out to 22 feet.

Quite simply there was no waiting around on this one. We had to fix a wrong immediately, and after this week, Akok finds himself where he rightfully belongs, as a five-star prospect."

I think we may need to hire a bodyguard to protect him from the evil influences of UK, Duke and others.

Best Player...
"There is no argument for this one as Akok Akok strolled into Southern California and dominated everyone in front of him, leading his Mass Rivals 17-under squad to the finals of the adidas Summer Championship.

What makes Akok so special is the fact that he is one of the best shot blockers in high school basketball and is even more deadly on the offensive end thanks to his shooting prowess. Akok had games of over 10 points, five rebounds and four blocks five separate times during the second live period.

He is as close to a blue blood prospect that you’re going to find, though UConn, Syracuse, Providence, Virginia Tech and Maryland are the five to beat. Whichever the case, Akok was the best that hit the hardwood on the west coast and potentially played his way into a five-star ranking during the next Rivals150 update."

If we sign Akok the best part will be reading the UConn board meltdown over a top 30 player from the state of Connecticut signing with Syracuse. They all are already starting to squirm.

This quote kind of points out the foolishness of putting too much stock in the class rankings etc. The pool of talent is way too big for rankings to truly be accurate. Because of the size of the pool of talent, evaluators can't see everyone, they can't see all guys compete against similar competition and a lot of the guys that get seen may not get seen more than a time or two. Obviously this doesn't apply to the prospects that are firmly in the top 25 or top 50. It's the guys that don't get ranked highly or that may get missed altogether when the rankings are first formulated.

They are also somewhat self perpetuating I think. If you are a kid that as a frosh cracks the top 25 you are probably going to continue to get attention throughout your career. If you get missed early on regardless of the reason, you may or may not get noticed or you may not get noticed until very very late in the process......to say nothing of the guys that simply don't blossom until later.

That said, we have been recruiting Akok for quite awhile and he is one of the players we really want. While it is nice that he has been recognized and moved up in the rankings, it probably makes him more noticeable to other schools. He was 83% lean to Syracuse on Crystal Ball but that was before he jumped up into the Top 25.

We’ll keep that lead if we maintain/strengthen our bond. He doesnt seem like hes the typical five star. Show him we believe in him and can put him on a stage to succeed and he’ll be ours.
