Class of 2018 PF Bryce Golden (MD) to Butler

Video on him look great. He's a 4* big with solid all around skills. Also looks like a guy who will be in college for 4 years so a great addition. Could give us quality back up minutes this year, possibly even start, and be a big contributor down the road. Let's get a visit and wrap this up!

Yeah, if this is for real, it would be a great late pull.

I think he would be exactly what we need. A four who could provide minutes at five in case of foul trouble. Tough sneaky athletic big that appears to have a little face up game but also not afraid to hustle and scrap. He’s the kind of guy we hate to play against. Didn’t see a lot of his passing in the clips that I watched but I see a lot of Luke Maye in his game with a tad more athleticism. Would be a nice piece to the puzzle as he should be more of four year guy that could blend w the team and not one or two and done type. Appears to have a lower ceiling than some of the guys we recruit but the floor is higher.

Payback for Matt McCarroll.

This is the exact type of big that UNC signs and keeps for four years that destroys us inside every time we play them.

Or the type of big who comes off the bench for Duke and scraps his way to 8 and 11 versus us.

I think rather than him at the 5 it makes Marek as the emergency 5 a lot more viable.

If we get him, I like it. Watching his video he seems to be able to do some work inside, add some toughness, but also step out to 15 feet and shoot it. He’s a great pickup right now being April already because he’ll be willing to accept a back up role where big minutes aren’t there but he’ll be serviceable and be a great addition to practice. Especially since he’ll be willing to knock Brissett around some and make him a better player in contact.

Any definitive answer on the release and whether transfer to another ACC School will even be a possibility?

Feel like this would be a really bad look as one of Capels first moves, to block this kid from going anywhere.

I thought the NCAA had adopted some rules to cover this particular situation?

Put me down as being in favor of program guys who will stay 3-4 years, with the occasional Melo type if you can get him. It’s about winning games.

St. James is a private school about 15 minutes from where I live. It is mostly a boarding school for Senator & Congressmen's kids. He has a Brother who is 2 years older and plays for Richmond.
They play in the Mid-Atlantic conference with schools like Flint Hill, Georgetown Day, Potomac, Maret, and Sidwell Friends. Mostly very exclusive and expensive schools filled with plenty of kids coming from old money.

He played hurt with a shoulder injury much of the year. And was also in and out of the line-up due to the injury, so that will reflect in his stats. It might be worth taking a look at his junior stats as well.

FWIW, looks like his brother (a much lower rated recruit) as a RSfrosh put up 15.6pts 6.7rebs & 1.2 blocks at Richmond. Including 24 and 10 vs Georgetown
