A 6-11 version of this kid to be backup 5 would have been great too ( if such a player existed in the portal this year which appears not)

I love this kid. It’s hard to stop him from the three point line. He has a very quick release and combine that with being 6’9” makes it very hard to stop him from getting shots off. He hurt us both times we played. It’s hard for bigs to get out to cover him. He will be a huge plus on defense just because of his size and length.

With these 5 guys, plus Kingz and Womack, we're looking at something like this:

C: Kyle, Souare, White / Freeman

PF: Freeman, White, Deng

SF: Deng, Kingz, Womack

That's pretty good depth, and a lot of tall bouncy guys. Some pretty decent shooting options, too.

And as of right now, the guards look like:

SG: Starling, Kingz, Anthony

PG: George, Fennell, Starling
 
Jerry Deng would be a great pickup but I think it’s Syracuse’s Plan B and the reason this hasn’t yet happened.

LeJuan Watts may be Plan A. There have been contact presumably (based on Alex Kline’s Instagram activity) and Syracuse has kept the portal interest mostly under the radar. To be fair, I have no inside information

The way this roster is constructed, Watts would be a home run pick up

He would be a interesting guy. So would Watkins from FSU. I don't think Deng is a plan B though. We would take any of the three if they were to say yes right now. Just my opinion.
 
I really like how this roster is shaping up. Like a lot.

Also very nervous and hesitant to get the expectations high because Red is still the coach lol. If Boeheim had this roster, we’d be looking at top 5 in the ACC for sure.

Would love that.

But tough to see Watts wanting to come here with Freeman / White in the fold. All three play the same position, and Watts isn't going anywhere to sit.

Agree with the fact that we would take a commitment from any of those three right now but I do wonder with the obvious need for this type of player and the obvious connection (Melo fav player, Rochester, ACC), why we haven’t gotten that yet??

Watts would start, I assume it would be a George, Starling, Kingz, Watts, Freeman starting lineup. To be honest, I think it would impact Kyle’s minutes more than White’s or Freeman’s or Kingz’s. Watts did average almost 7 boards a game last year and is a great passer so theoretically could fit multiple positions, especially if we want to go small ball

Watts is listed as a guard on WSU roster.
