He had no choice unless he decided to reopen his recruitment. His top 3 whittled down to UConn, Duke and UK. Duke locked in Cayden Boozer at the point a few weeks ago, and UConn got 2 guards recently, Darius Adams and Byron Mullins and said they were done.
Some of these guys drag out the recruitment process while lapping up the attention and end up with leftovers.

Chasing NIL will cause a lot of NBA potential college players to get off track. Rich Paul acknowledged this and said that high level recruits should be concerned with the right fit and opportunity to showcase their skills to the NBA.
During the Calipari years, for every successful player like Kat you had Dakari who could have had the keys at SU. Maxey - Ashton Hagans, the list goes on and on. UK gets credit for so many players going into the NBA but no one talks about the sure fire guys who should have made it but didn't.
 
Does anyone remember if Acaden made his decision before or after Fennell committed to UK? I thought it was before and we moved on with Fennell. If that’s the case, I can’t see us getting reinvolved with Acaden this time around

At this stage it's highly unlikely he bailed on UK without knowing where he is going. Probably will announce commitment pretty quickly unless a high dollar offer comes out of left field so to speak.
 
I really wanted Lewis. But, there’s very little chance he would consider us unless he is willing to play behind George and then take the lead next year. Fennell is long and versatile and can get minutes at the 1 thru 3.

Unless you are an elite point guard, it’s very difficult to be a successful one and done so he would benefit from playing behind George for a year. But, most players don’t want to hear that.

He would have to play two years behind George. It’s not happening.
