Did he say I commit to the Orange? He didn't say all the right things.Kid says all the right things. Impressive.

?? The coaches believe we are still in this. Quite frankly, they think it would be disrespectful to show up if you are still not interested. Had a current coach tell me this. They have better things to do than entertain any kid that knows he isn't coming here.He came to pay his respect not to commit.

Eh most on here have no idea what’s going on. Many didn’t even think we were recruiting JJ. Lol?? The coaches believe we are still in this. Would be interesting to be a fly on the coaches wall today (or any day). See if they have any idea how this is going.?? The coaches believe we are still in this. They tend to be more optimistic that they should be on most occasions.Would be interesting to be a fly on the coaches wall today (or any day). See if they have any idea how this is going.
The coaches also felt good good about Taylor and Copeland and we saw how that turned out.The coaches also felt good good about Clingan and Flip and we saw how that turned out.
Yeah he worked at a concession stand in 312Pre-recruitment—did he frequent the Dome for hoops games?
It is 100% disrespectful if the kid is 100% sure he is going elsewhere. I'm sure you have never worked in sales. Someone who spends your time when they know they aren't going to buy, is disrespectful of your time. The salesperson, or in this case the coach, could be spending time with someone who might actually attend the school. That isn't the case here. While I think he goes to Duke, we are very much in play here.Coaches' 'feelings' are pretty much irrelevant.
I doubt the kid himself knows 100% which way he's going, and even if he feels a certain way on a Sunday, it can change on a Monday. I can't imagine what they go through. Even when i'm trying to decide on buying a guitar, i'll be dead set on one thing one day, and then change my mind twice the next day. And that process will go on and on for a month or two until i just concede to the strongest impulse because i got tired of the process... So, it's not a matter of the kid being disrespectful for taking a visit if he thinks he's 95% leaning a different direction. You do it because there are still dynamic factors at play, in the other schools still recruiting other players, because something you learn or feel in the next visit might be the overwhelming factor, because relationships you make during a trip might be the swing factor. You don't know, so you use all your opportunities to gather intel.
[I think. But, i'm just guessing.]
Well, that's sorta the point. Is someone ever "100% sure," and even if so, for how long. As i noted in my post, i've been "100% sure of things" one minute as a 'consumer,' and then changed my mind or come across new 'intel' that was compelling enough to change my mind. I don't believe in absolutes like this. "100% sure" in the mind of an 18 year old being recruited/courted by multiple high-profile institutions/coaches, and friends, and being influenced by family, etc is not actually 100%.It is 100% disrespectful if the kid is 100% sure he is going elsewhere. Get out of town. For realz?Yeah he worked at a concession stand in 312
I know that they do. And no one likes to have their time and efforts completely wasted, Try spending time with someone who isn't interested in whatever you are selling and get back to me. In that marketing, you spend a lot time away from your family on business with no chance of doing that business? If you did, I'm sure you would consider it time well spent.Well, that's sorta the point. Is someone ever "100% sure," and even if so, for how long. I work in advertising/marketing, and my degree is in psychology, but no, i've never sold aluminum siding, if that would have validated my concern or opinion. This isn't like going to a Porsche dealership for a test drive when you only have Kia money.
Either way, i wonder if the staff feels the same way as you do, that entertaining a kid who may have already made up his mind is a complete waste of time and an 'insult.' Personally, i might welcome the opportunity to change a mind. And seeing as how we've been the beneficiary of players changing their minds even after commitments, or in transfers subsequently, i'd probably embrace an opportunity at any stage to strengthen relationships.
Case in point: Donovan Clinghan knew he was going to commit to UConn but still took trips to Syracuse and another place. At the time, it wasn’t sure but became evident real soon after his trip.Well, that's sorta the point. Is someone ever "100% sure," and even if so, for how long. You continue to espouse this completely binary perspective. That's fine—makes things easier to 'understand,' but you keep ignoring real world scenarios where other results actually occur. We've had kids commit to other schools and then commit to us. We've had kids commit to us and then decommit. As i said, "100%" is not "100%."I know that they do. Maybe you didn't read where I said exactly the opposite. I am not referring to JJ. Someone said that JJ saw us out of respect for us. I said that wasn't true. Although I would be somewhat surprised if he does go to Syracuse. Duke is just so hard to beat for a guy they really want to get. I simply pointed out that it is anything but respectful to waste someone else's time when you are 100% not going there or not going to buy their product. That isn't the case with JJ. Since you have never had your time wasted by such a person in the business that you are in, you couldn't possible understand that. If a kid or a person, wastes a persons time, that is time they could have spent doing anything else. Ranging from spending time with their family to prospecting with a potential buyer. It isn't that complicated. You continue to espouse this completely binary perspective. If you've got some sort of insider info about why he'd be 'definitely out' with us, then please share it.
I think it came down to the last minute. Don't think we were out of it until then.Stewart was an example of a recruit wasting our time. He was never coming here and everyone knew it.
Get out of town. For realz?
