Pitt Gameday...

Syracuse Defense needs to tackle and stay disciplined and each player do his 1/11. On offense, Offensive line needs to communicate and protect McCord, and get some push on Pitt DL. Receivers need to get separation and catch. Special Teams need to be Special in the good way. Been way too many years since Syracuse University Football has done two things: Win at Pittsburgh and beat them two years in a row. Go Orange!

That's one thing that's really surprised me this year. I really expected this team to be much better at tackling.

I am excited to have a big game and feel like we have a great chance to win again, but yes it will be tough especially without Pena.

I don't like to be a Buzz Killington, but I can't say I was completely shocked when things started going downhill last season, especially as injuries piled up. But I think we still have enough to hold up and compete this season even with the injuries.
If Kyle stays healthy we won’t collapse. I think playoff talk is fun but highly unlikely, I still think this an 8 win kind of team, and if we win tonight, I will think maybe 9 win team. Last year’s team, even when they were 4-0 just felt off and then once the wheels started coming off, we knew where it was going

I think you're right and 8 is what I predicted at the beginning of season. I just feel like this team is at least going to be able to compete in every game barring a Kyle injury/

Need a victory here. We always seem to blow it against Pitt any time they are halfway decent. Time for Fran Brown and the team to change that narrative. Hoping for a McCord masterclass game that we talk about and reference for decades.

If our D can hold Pitt to FGs when they are in our territory a couple of times then I think we’ve got this. Or if the defense can get even a decent amount of pressure on the QB tonight we could be tough to beat.

Peña is one of my favorite players on on this team and sad that he’s not going to play but I think we also have a lot of receiving talent that should be able to step up and fill in for him.
GO CUSE!

Halfway through last year in addition to other injuries we had QB issues, even when GS was on the field. McCord is an incredible QB and like you said, he’s not injured. We haven’t had a QB of this caliber since McNabb, so we have a chance in every game just because of that.

Thank god I work for myself because I'm not getting chit done today too fired up let's keep this mf'er rolling
Yeah, I work remote so kinda same thing. I intend to get er started with some IPAs on the golf course around 5pm!

I'm not going to lie... if we win tonight, I'll likely begin thinking playoff (because I'm a sucker for setting myself up for disappointment).

If we lose this game, it'll feel like same 'ol 'Cuse. Win and I'll definitely feel like things are changing.
Yeah, it would be on brand. We've been here so many times and have left disappointed. That said, we travelled to Vegas and came away with a victory in epic fashion and then beat up NC State in Raleigh a week later. So, who knows. It sure would be fun to win. That would put us in the top 25, two straight against Pitt, 3 consecutive road wins, and in position for a REALLY good year!

It may be a long time before we have another QB as talented as Kyle. It would feel like such a waste if we don't do something special this year. It doesn't have to be crazy like playoffs, but running the table until we get to Miami would be fitting.

Looking at the history between these two teams, is it fair to say this is the biggest game between the two schools since 1989?

Does anyone know if Pitt’s starting LT and LG are going to play? After they came out of the game last week Holstein really struggled. Only 133 yards and 2 Ints.
I think it's one of those things we'll know once we see warmups. Not much definitive information has been given.

This is how I feel. Playoffs are still a bit of a dream until we string a few more wins together. But, as you say, McCord is such a talent for us, it’d be a shame and somewhat of a waste if we can’t at least have a really good year by beating teams like Pitt, VT, and BC. Those are the teams we need to surpass in order to reestablish the program. We must eventually win a game like this and there’s no better time than with McCord. Win and we get to keep dreaming of bigger prizes week to week
