Postgame Thoughts… GT

Jimmy had a good first half but I'd love to see a season highlight reel of his incredulous looks every time he gets called for a foul.

LOL! Him and Buddy both do the look if they don't score and think a foul was committed (I would say they're right 15-20% of the time).

There are other subs besides Benny. Buddy did NOT need to play as much as he did tonight. The defense was better with Symir out there
Buddy’s D was good in the first half, got his hands on 3-4 passes early.

Ugly game. JB still can't figure out Pastner but we escaped. Also.. the crew gave us a loss to Indiana about 7 times and never corrected it.

So based on that logic, when we lose, coaching decisions were incorrect.
Got it.

Isn't that the logic you all roll with? Maybe I need to re-read 5 years of posts.

Edit: I'll amend that because clearly some of you even think he is wrong when he wins, so it's just he's always wrong no matter what.

Yeah and he got one steal because the gt kid threw it at his chest. Sometimes he gets lucky.
And sometimes he plays good defense, like he did with the 4 deflections tonight and 7 steals last game.

A few thoughts
-Bourama played with so much heart. I hope he realizes how much effort like that is appreciated. So many what ifs as far as his health and career.
-I know he got off to a fast start but Jimmy cooled off significantly. I cannot fathom any reason at all where he should be playing 44 minutes. Not only is he not good enough to warrant that but that kind of time puts him at a disadvantage fatigue wise.
-imagine having Cole on your team and deciding the best way to win a game in the final seconds is to run an isolation play so Jimmy can shoot the one handed right handed floater that he never makes
-Benny hasn’t been good but you can’t tell me that he couldn’t play tough defense and grab some rebounds to give Jimmy a rest from 44 minutes. As I did say in the game thread I wish Benny would sprint down the court more often and take advantage of his speed instead of those long, jogging steps he usually takes.
-I wish somebody could tell buddy that there are other ways to help the team besides shooting like passing and playing tough defense and keeping your hands up when closing out. How can you play 42 minutes and get ZERO rebounds?
-I can’t imagine why there were no minutes available for Symir in the second half. At the very least I would play offense defense with him and either buddy or Joe. He is clearly the best defender of those three.
-I honestly don’t care how many temper tantrums JB throws I think Frank was effective, particularly in the second half. It is amazing how he and Jesse are the only bigs deserving of criticism and that Jimmy always seems to play a perfect game.

I kind of think the complaining about everything has been beaten dead. Sure it wasn’t pretty, but a lot of us never had us winning 6 out of the last 7 games so maybe we shouldn’t be so angry.
You make a good point. But at the end of the day it is hard to look at this program and these past few games and feel like this is what we want our program to be.

I mean why do you do this.

If you say so. I don’t think you even comprehended what I said.

I definitely don't comprehend it. I thought you were saying that of all the decisions that happen in preparing for and coaching a game, we only get to see a single outcome. So in the end we decide decisions are wrong if they don't work out. By that logic, decisions are definitely correct when they go well.

I'm clearly aware this is dramatically flawed logic, but it is the logic I see constantly and I thought was reflected in your admonition of my post.

Didn’t see last game, but honestly, ive yet to see Buddy play ‘good’ defense. Good for him, which is not even average for most SU 2 guards, I’ll grant you. He’s had moments of good d over the years.

This is a very cult like response from you.

Folks praise Jim all the time. His change to the 1-1-3 was universally praised earlier this year. The work he and his staff have done with Jesse.

You see what you want to see.

No the logic that is used is this HC has allowed the program to slip.

I mean jeez your posts on this are just strawman arguments. It’s not personal against JB.

15-12 means nothing if we don't get at least two upset wins to finish the year.

These games we have won in the latest run were against the bottom of the league. It's good we didn't lose them but not much to be excited about. We easily could be staring at 15-17 in a couple weeks if we don't start playing our best hoops.

We are a very flawed team that lost arguably its best player to injury. Still we have found ways to win. Granted its been against average teams but they are ACC teams. Lets ride this out and finish on a positive note.

I’m not sure why people are upset about the BC game. We were in control throughout. Frankly I was just happy to win a close game for about the 2nd time this year today. Every game turns into a referendum on the macro and the game threads are toxic.

You said because we won the coach was clearly right in how he handled things.

This was countered because it fails to comprehend that if we did make a sub we could have won the game in regulation or by more points if we had a better defensive lineup with the subs one stop and your point is wrong.

Did you even watch this game? Buddy could have sat more and Torrence could have improved the D.
Jimmy was gassed. If he sat a little maybe he has the energy to finish at the end.
You don’t know.

If all that matters if we win or loss its lazy.
The coaching can be good in losses and terrible in wins.
I don’t get how you don’t comprehend that.
