Postgame Thoughts… GT

I won't add another thread to clutter but gotta give a huge shout out to Cole. This kid gives every ounce he has. To me his play has to be looked at as saving the streak if it happens as much as anyone. He keeps things alive, makes big shots, gives everything he has on defense and is a leader. I really hope he decides to come back.

Your team is awful and friggin boring. You’re lucky anyone even shows up.
I’ve been at the majority of the games this season, and without the student section the crowed would be dead. It actually saddens me as a lifelong Cuse fan that the comments, and overall narrative in this thread is fueled with hatred.

At the end of the day we are all love syracuse, but some of you on this thread are disgustingly disrespectful to the coach, and team that has given all of us so many of our best memories.

Lack of Symir is beyond bizarre at this point . Even if he was a carbon copy of Buddy/Joe he should be getting 10mpg simply due to the fact that those 2 should be not be playing 35+mpg. But his skill set fits/helps both Buddy and Joe. He honestly should be getting 20mpg. The fact that he barely plays on nights like tonight when the guards can’t shoot is just mind boggling

Back from the dome tonight. Haven’t made it to many, but some general thoughts.

Ga Tech defended hard and did not leave our shooters. Really made it tough for our shooters to get open looks. Especially Buddy.

The Buddy iso plays were a disaster tonight. So many forced shots and it was so obvious in person that he was not passing out of them….and then the rest of the team just stands and watches. Really hard to get offensive boards off his shots. Everyone just stops competing.

I thought Cole played really well. Rebounded, defended, let the game co e to him and hit that really big three to answer early in OT.

Can’t say enough about Sid. Played hard and his experience helps him limit wasted movements. Love the ball screen take to the rack. My favorite play off the game. Love that he getting a chance.

Other than shooting I actually thought we didn’t play terribly. It’s who we are and what we’re capable off. Give Tech credit.

I think there was a possession where Jimmy Boeheim and Pastner literally could have held hands. Made me crazy. Officials have to keep coaches off the court when the ball is live. Have to. And coaches have no right to complain when officials say something. Pastner is such a tool.

Thought Jimmy played well, but I could have lived without his end of game iso. Once he’s standing still in the lane, he’s dead. He can beat people moving off the dribble by creating angles with an oft timed release, but his flat footed pump fakes in the fool nobody.

Frank was much better in the second half. Wish he was more aggressive on the roll to the basket.

Overall, just win and move on. Get two more wins and avoid a losing season.

Agree that Frank played well in the second half after a tough first half. Really battled in there. Was great to see our centers be productive.

How many 15-12 teams would have that many people there to see them play an under .500 team?

Still amazing we won that game and shot 32 pct.

As Eric15 pointed out in his earlier post, we won this game because of the turnover differential. GT had 14 to our 4. And, I remember seeing a stat near the end of regulation where those turnovers afforded us a 14-2 or 16-4 advantage in points off turnovers.

What we learned: 3 of our top 4 guys can have terrible shooting nights, and we can beat a bad team.
So there's that.

Swider with some big ones. Buddy with a good 2nd half, not many makes but a couple important ones.
Our bigs are grinding. Swider and Jimmy adding a lot on the boards, and Frank did well when he was in there, too. They were pretty big.

Looking at the stats at halftime, you would have thought we should be trailing by 10. It was so important that we were still even.

Another nice win. Is that actually 7 out of 8 now?

That drive & jump-stop for the layup by Sid was HUUUGE!!!

And then he caught an elbow to the chin - NO FOUL.

WTAF??
Dude is 6’10” and he went down like a sniper shot him because of that shot to the face -
But GaTech just got to take the ball out like it never happened??

No, they bumped heads. Incidental contact. The guy did swing his arm a bit, but no contact with the arm. It was his reaction to hitting heads. That's how I saw it.

I thought Joe played a very good game. One of his best all around games this season.
I agree that Joe played well but I scratch my head why at the end of regulation and again near the end of OT JB put Symir in the game but he never touched the ball. I know everyone says he can not hit free throws but why is he in the game?

Other than nys are there any other states that require mask at sporting events?

I was just talking about this the other day in another thread. Teams get away with more fouls when they play man defense.
There is a lot more incidental rub-type contact in man v man, so I think the refs let a lot of it go, whereas most contact in a zone is from movement to contact.

I dont know. Also the reason i say Joe played well is because he handled the pressure, made some excellent plays on D, and the shots he did make were clutch.
