Postgame thoughts... UNC

Can we go one game without doing this Kadary v. Joe stupidity? There’s better things to argue about ffs its far from the biggest problem

Until Kadary “Second Coming of Jesus” Richmond gets 40 minutes, probably not.

Couple takes here-
1. Painful to see Joe not be able to dribble around a 7 foot 265 pound center
2- painful to see Joe not block out the shooter and allow an extra possession when it was 73-70 on a miss free throw which allowed the game to go to 75-70
3- painful that braswell doesn’t play more after seeing his + - compared to others
4- painful to see how easy it is for everyyyyyy other program to have a center or 2 that eat their lunch
5- painful that this team literally has no hustle other than QG. Literally these guys jog around
6- painful that I’m always saying it’s painful to watch lol

No. No we may NOT!

Your request has been considered, and rejected. :) j/k btw

literally not once. If someone can give us the time in the game that occurred, I’d love to see it
Not tonight, but it has happened in the previous two games. When has UNC ever not played up in your face.

I agree though, it's not a big deal right now if he can't hit a 3 with his ability to drive, make plays and 3 guys on the court that can hit a 3. Its not like he is playing 35 a game, he's playing what like 10 and it is a change of pace.

The problem is that Joe is treated this way and it’s clearly not working, and a few threes a game doesn’t make up for bad defense, turnovers, and horrible shot selection. We have enough good shooters on the floor, I would much rather a guy who can facilitate offense and play good D get more minutes then Joe.
At this point I don’t think we are competing for a championship so give me the guy with a lot more upside getting the minutes.

Listen, I’m hoping for a guard rotation. In my mind, that means sitting buddy for a few minutes in the second half because he wasn’t helping anywhere. Kadary running the point with Joe off the ball may have actually worked in the second half. But Joe needs to be consistent with his effort on the defensive end, and stop with the ridiculous 25+ footers.
You don't think he has the green light to shoot those shots? He has to or he would be getting blow torched by Boeheim. I've heard he makes them at a high percentage during practice.

Ok, Here the deal on Joe's D. In my early 20's I used to play pickup against some of the players in summer at Archbold Gym. Sherm, Herm Harried, Brower and Matt Roe were regulars. They made me/us look silly but we ran with them. If they didn't want me to score, I didn't score (or pass or much of anything else!). I'm now 56, 6'2" 275lbs was a while ago. If I walked up court today and saw JG3 guarding me in a tavern league zone I wouldn't think twice about passing over him or shooting over him. If Kadary was on me I would pass the ball to someone else.

Offensive rebounding killed us. Our guys battled but 265 vs 195 is not good.

so sick of this narrative. so then just throw your hands up and give up? rebounding is much more than just who weighs more. its positioning, effort, technique, and more than anything, will. this team can't and never will be good at defensive rebounding because

1. stupid zone.
2. the scheme to rebound out of the zone is either not taught well or the players they recruit year after year after year refuse to be taught it..its one or the other..maybe both.

strictly blaming it on who is fatter is misguided.

You’re not listening.

Kadary is a part of the rotation. He’s a 4 star freshman playing 16-20 minutes a game. That’s rare. Late in games, Boeheim plays the known quantity, the more experienced player. Kadary is a good defender, he’s not MCW. Joe is a bad defender, he’s not Brandon Reese. Joe is a good shooter and can hit NBA 3’s (which are sometimes the best this offense can do); he can’t drive or finish in traffic. Kadary can’t shoot at all but can drive and does alright in traffic.

Joe plays more because the guy who has forgotten more about coaching and winning than any of us will learn in two lifetimes wants him in the court.

What is the part I’m missing?

Think we're all looking for 20-25 and Joey Jesus to also only be at 25. JG is an "elite shooter" that is shooting 34% from the field through 2 years and isn't particularly good at anything else except ft shooting. It doesn't appear that he's going to magically get more athletic or longer so he basically is what he is and most of us are terrified hes going to continue averaging 33mpg for the next 2.5 years.

JB:

“Too big for us inside”
“marek giving up 50 lbs”
“Have to play perfect on offense”

same presser we get 80% of the time against UNC.

its all lies. we were up a point with a couple minutes left and had played FAR from perfect. what cost us the game was terrible decisions by the players and the coach who put the players who make terrible decisions, in a position where their decisions could cost us.

Kadary wasn’t helping us win this game today. Joe didn’t either. The list of guys who help us win is Buddy, Guerrier...
