Makes it sound like I thought Arnett is a (fill in the blank).
 
Nice to see JW be fairly candid about it. Guy signed paperwork agreeing, he reneged on the deal, we tried to talk him out of it by matching everything they offered he still said I’d rather recruit/live in Mississippi than Syracuse for the same deal. We clearly can’t beat the offer by leaps and bounds so JW said go ahead and go to MSU.

Now we sit where we do and we will hopefully get some good news about a coordinator in the next few days
 
Did anyone listen and can they comment on the context of that conversation? Did Axe ask if he signed a contract and/or if there would be compensation? Or was he asking if Wildhack thought he screwed them over vs miscommunication. Hard to tell just from the quotes what he was specifically addressing.

Young. Not a retread. A guy who I think players would respond to not just because he used to be a big name. This guy is on the way up in his career cycle. Strong is probably on his way down. Obviously just my opinion. And if Freeman came here and was wildly successful, he probably would be gone to OSU in a couple years anyway. But that’s okay. We would already have reaped the benefits.

What kind of buyout do you think the agent of a rising name in the coaching ranks is going to agree to for a DC position at SU? You think this guy wasn’t taking this job without one foot already out the door?

You all should probably stop throwing stones at our guys, I think they know what they’re doing and I think they’re self aware about our limitations.

The issue is our fans aren't self aware about our limitations.

If he's not willing to sign a buyout, that tells you all you need to know and you move on to someone else.

How many coordinators have buy outs? And how much are they?

My reasoning is this. I'd rather Dino and Stanard get together and figure out the D they want then just grab a guy just to have one. SU got burned late and I'd by far rather have Stanard as DC than hire someone Dino isn't thrilled with just to fill the DC position.

Agree but that said there should be something in writing that has them stay for a year or some kind of compensation could be obtained and hopefully people smarter than me could write such a thing.

I don’t agree at all, that’s the type of decision that gets coaches fired eventually. You don’t fire your DC mid-season, fail to get a DC and then decide to stick with a guy on staff that is worse than the guy you fired mid-season.

I think Dino knew when he offered that a coach like Arnett wasn’t going to sign a buyout or be here for a very long time.

If you’re lucky, you get 2 years, he turns around the D, and you go from there.
