The team gave us reason to be proud today. There were many things to be very pleased and optimistic about. Most importantly the team showed resilience in toughing it out after having a humiliating loss and then when things were not clicking in the 1st half, the defense held the opposition and then in the 2nd half it was our time to shine and seize the win.

It's easy to be critical and find shortcomings but I was proud of what the team did today and it is a solid step in the right direction. I'll take it any day!

Thanks to all the kids who played their hardest today and congrats on a well deserved win!

LGO!

Fair appraisal I would say.

I agree I saw a bit of progress today and that was a good thing. I still have my doubts we get to 6 but I liked the effort by the team and a few things I saw from a few of the players

Saw progress on defense, not offense. Hate the play calling, hate the pass offense. Like the running game for the most part.

Did I say how much I love Dixon? Literally has 3 different types of punts that he uses depending upon field position and situation.

Dixon is one of the MVP's already this year. As weird as this sounds, but I actually get excited when he has to punt.

And yes this hashtag isn't cool: #DixKix

I really like the fact that underclassmen are getting game experience.

unfortunately we know all too much about those different types of punts. love Dixon, but I hope we never have to see him this much ever again

THIS.

Damn proud today. Second time this year it truly felt like a hard-nosed team.

Gotta tweak the Twerps next weekend. LGO!

The offense had progress in the 2nd half. Granted, they were coming off 6 quarters that even made Pariani cover his eyes. But they kept working and started making things happen. Players and coaches.

Sure in the first half when it was 3rd and 10 and we had Hunt line up under center and run play action, I yelled very un-Christian things at my TV. And sure there were times that Hunt would just hold the ball forever and not pull the trigger. I can't see what's downfield, but I think he plays so scared of the INT sometimes that I bet someone was open. And sure he overthrew Broyld badly on at least one, if not more.

But GMC went back to Smith early in the 2nd half, good. Got Estime involved much more, good. Shook things up with a trick play, good. Great call to West on the near TD (caught Wake in a blitz) and great play by West to turn it into more, good. Hunt started hitting some more passes in this game, good. Gulley broke another one, good (I know his workload drives people crazy but that's why, so fast thru the hole if he actually runs upfield).

I thought the OL was ok today, at best. Not terrible, not great. Hope that improves next week.

Could be in for a tough week next week against Edsall. Gameplanning for us won't be that difficult, and he's typically good at that. But if nothing else, the offense showed some signs of life today, which I guess is a tribute to how bad it has actually been.

Still 3 winnable games on this schedule. But still 4 lose-able games on this schedule. Things could be worse.

We had 1 decent drives the 2nd half. The rest of the half we averaged about 1 yard per play. It was ugly. The only drive we "committed" to Smith was the opening drive of the 2nd half which culminated in a TD.

I agree with the OP but after watching the Pitt-GT game tonight I have to think our game against GT was an anomaly, at least defensively. Just a 'What' game...I hope.

Not really sure how you can say 1 decent drive. One play drives are decent too. Like the TD after the INT. Or the Gulley long run that would have led to a short FG if we had a kicker (offense had 21 more yards on that drive).

The offense isn't playing well. But they played better in the 2nd half than they did the 3 previous halves. It's ok to give them some credit for it. 225 yards in the 2nd half after about 125 in the 1st. Need to build on it.

We got a TD pass. Not from a QB, but we got one. I do consider that to be progress.

Sooo damn frustrating when they take Smith out following 1-2 carries. He's the workhorse!!! Feed it to him until he throws up. Gulley has done well at times, but he is no Jerome Smith.

Meant to type 2 decent drives. Otherwise we averaged about a yard per play. 2 decent drives per game doesn't an offense make. Sure, it's progress when compared to 0 but is still horrible.

But 225 yards in the 2nd half is good right? You're beating this drum harder than upperdeck with his "you people wanted Bullough fired"

Our QBs have limited experience, and looks like limited talent. Same for the WRs. So you'll probably tire yourself out eventually.

Of course 225 is good. But you have to look behind the numbers. It was mostly all on the 2 good drives of the game. And the 90 yard drive needed a 65 yard run. The offense was an in the first half. C- in the 2nd. Improved but still abysmal. Use Smith more like we did in that opening 2nd half drive and mane it becomes more functional.
