Dr Bill keeps mentioning we need a big, so why have we not offered Abuna Ruop 6'9" from Sudan. Five other ACC schools have. We had 2 men's players from Sudan Duany and Bol Ajak.

Dr. Bill Here! We do need some Bigs! Why are we not recruiting this 6-9 player? Good question, one thaat we need to ask the coaching staff. One of my complaints about the coverage of women's hoop in Syracuse...is the lack there of! Recruiting information is really lacking. As a hoop head, i thought about putting together my own vehicle for reporting on Syracuse Women's basketball recruiting. I have not acted on it...because I don't sense there is much interest from our fan base and I wonder how much interest there is in our staff in discussing their recruiting strategy or targets.
Concerning our need for bigs, this I know, 6-5 and taller players are in demand by every program and there are way more players in the 6-2 to 6-3 range that are out there. A front court of 6-3, 6-3, 6-2 and a backcourt of 6-0 and 5-9/10, should be tall enough to compete with most teams from a rebounding perspective. The key is the skill of the players that fill these positions. Rebounding is a lost art and much of that skill is related to heart, desire, and lastly skill. How many players do you see go after the ball first on a rebound and fail to seek out a player near them to box out first?

As an aside. Stanford has 3 recruits on the McDonalds All American Team, One 6-5, one 6-4. The 6-4 player is from Australia and was recruited by the Cuse, but our Australian connection wasn't powerful enough to secure a visit. Welcome to the ACC!!

Vukosa is No. 5 recruit, there is no way she would be looking at Syr, no matter when in the recruiting process.
Lacking in NIL funding, the chances of getting top 35 recruit or top 20 portal player is very slim. It shouldn't prevent us from offering as we have seen players move multiple times.
Ruop is ranked 49th, she has lot of upside but she will need some developing and for a big, I think game experience would help more than riding the bench.

We should be offering kids from LuHi every year.

Crestwood Prep in Canada too. Latham and Day-Wilson came from there. Does Coach Jack have a summer invite camp at SU for recruits like the guys do?

We started recruiting Vukosa when she was in the 8th grade! We may have been her first offer and we didn't even make her top 13 !!!! There is a big at Notre Dame who is 6-5 and starts for them this year that played on Long Island...that we missed on. I am just restating the obvious now! Something has to change...and it isn't the coaching. In the last 3 recruiting cycles, we have been successful in getting 3 players inside of the top 100, with the young lady coming next year that was rated #48 and the highest rated prospect in the Coach Jack era. Perhaps, we can figure out a way to be successful with players outside of the top 100, if we are not going to have the funds to commit to the top players in the country.
In the ACC, we are going up against Notre Dame, Stanford, North Carolina, Duke, and NC State, all recruiters of elite talent. Throw in Virginia, which just got a multi year, multi million dollar commitment from a billionaire Alum(Serena William's husband), and look at their recruiting uptick recently(We lost out in a head to head with them in this upcoming class for a very promising guard). We are entering some rough seas in a boat without a lot life rafts!...

We have an offer out to at least two guards from LUHi for next year..

Coach Q, in his last recruiting class at SU, was able to sign two players in the top 10! One player, that was ranked #3, Camilla Cardoso, chose Syracuse over Dawn Staley and South Carolina! We all know she left the Cuse after one year and transferred to South Carolina. My point is how was Q able to get 2 players in the top 10, in the same class to come and play in the Dome at Syracuse??

NIL didn’t exist back then.

That’s how.
