PS: Syracuse football QBs Eric Dungey, Tommy DeVito set to compete (spring preview)

Where is CARETAKER to chime in?

Dungey's first injury was not a result of his style of play. It was the result of the illegal style of play by the central Michigan defender.

Dungey's injury against Louisville was, again, no fault of Dungey's. He was running down the middle of the field, which any semi mobile QB would have been doing in that situation. He was hit from behind and never saw it coming.

The injury was completely Scott Shafer's fault (and I'm a Shafer apologist). Dungey should never, ever, ever have been in the game at that point. But Shafer wanted to make his "special comeback."

The only injury I put on Dungey is the hit that he took against Clemson in 2016. Stuck his nose in the middle of the line of scrimmage and got banged for it

I think watching TD and ED throw on video we are ok with what muscle they put on. No stiffness in shoulder mobility for either one. Most people have the old boxer mentality about no lifting or any muscle will slow u down. So very false. Muscle for the sake of muscle could but explosive lifting and proper shoulder mobility work also with extensive rotator cuff work will make the football jump off your hand. They both look great throwing the ball. I love the strength staff and trust them wholeheartedly. The best part of this for the strength staff is watching kids grow in ways that help them mentally and physically while teaching them hard work and revving up their will to win and fight. Miss my time with Cs high school lifting. My bonding time with my kid was great but also helping countless kids was just as good. Goo Suuuuuuuu.

If everyone is interested in throwing patterns and muscle id urge to check out topvelocity.net . Brent debunks the myth that stronger and tight shoulders decrease velocity. think of the shoulder and arm as a rubber band. The weaker the shoulder and arm is like a rubber band being stretched too far. We want a a shoulder that is like a brand new rubber band able to snap forward when it is pulled back. Same physics

I know some of you may not have IG but TD uploaded a video of him throwing and i would be surprised if there is a QB on this team and probably not many in the country that is as accurate and throws as hard. Blew me away! We got a good one. I just hope the WR can hold on to the ball!!! Sheeeeesh

What’s his IG handle? Is he public?

IG is Instagram and his handle is t_gunna13
Thank you. For the record I was only asking for his handle, I know what IG is. Now get off my lawn!:p

Im one of Dungey’s biggest fans but it would not surprise me in the least if Devito’s taking near half the snaps or more by the acc schedule. This kid’s the real deal. Dungey’s a leader and a gamer, he’ll maintain his spot if he improves his throws and early down decision making.

I love TD and think he will be great at cuse. That said, ED 's decision making and throwing ability gets underratted on this board . With some protection ED has shown the ability to put the ball in small windows in big situations against some pro cailiber corners in the ACC. As long as he stays healthy, he is the the MAN;)

Completely agree with one caveat...the OL needs to significantly improve.

Otherwise, we all have to hope that TD can buy time with his feet and improvise (one of ED's greatest attributes) long enough to use his strong arm. Personally, I think TD is a way better athlete than most think and should be up to the task when his time comes.

Remember, sitting in the wings is Chase Amie, a highly rated duel threat QB. Signing him makes me wonder if the staff has come to the realization that developing an OL that can dominate in the ACC might be too tall a task.

All good takes, its really great having some depth and talent and thus depth at the most important position in sports. Thing is, as much as this offense has been ramping up; this may be a transition year d/t the loss of erv and ish. I hope i am 100% wrong and hope that in the end, Dino's system is truly plug and play. For people routing for TD to start with this stable of inexperience at wr is crazy. Even ED and his experience in this system , has a challenge ahead Thus, ED's ad lib and experience will be paramount this year like no other.

I don't underrate Eric.

Best SU QB since McNabb - and I don't think it's close.

I love ED, but let’s be honest, Nassib is likely the best QB since McNabb. He was drafted and played (is playing?) in the NFL. I don’t know that ED is as good as Nassib.

Totally different players. Nassib had a great arm and mechanics (which is what got him drafted). Dungey is more of a dual threat kind of QB. I think Nassib had a better unit around him...especially the Oline. He also didnt have to go up against the gauntlet ACC schedule.

I have great respect for Ryan, but I stand by my statement.
I respect that. Also, it should go without saying that I respect the hell out of ED.

This thread just got very interesting.

Dungey and Nassib, one pro style and one dual threat - impossible to compare. Both highly intelligent competitive leaders - but that's where the similarities end.

I will ignore running comparisons for obvious reasons.

As passers, I think Nasib has the edge in short to intermediate passes with Dungey far better downfield. I also think Dungey has more touch.

As field generals they are both good with Nassib being more patient and Dungey more explosive.

Nassib had the far better OLine, but not as talented a group of receivers as ED. Nassib played in a more conventional offense. (Interesting to speculate what his numbers would have been had he played in Dino's. I think they might has been off the charts.)

Nassib had a winning record in a weaker conference while Dungey's W-L record is poor in the tougher ACC.

Last but not least, Nassib was indestructible and not reckless. He was always available while ED has not been. To me, that might be the tie-breaker.

I would take either anywhere anytime, but if I had to choose only one for a game it would be Dungey. For a season, it would be Nassib.

Agree with this but I don’t think you can include ED being wreckless without giving him a giant edge in running the ball. I don’t think we beat Clemson last year without his legs.
