Purdue Postgame Party...

He took one on a no gainer/short gainer up the middle. But more than that is the accumulation of hits and the wearing down that takes place by running as much as he did. If he has to do that every game, he will wear down and become less effective.
Also his elbow was bothering him. The one he had surgery on (?).

My favorite player going into last season was Stephon Thompson. He’s also a beast. NFL linebacker in my opinion. I don’t throw that around lightly. But, then came the injury. Now I haven’t heard his name called much. Makes me sad.
Torn Achilles are a two year injury, one year out, then another year, rusty play. Hopefully next year he returns to form.

Good Morning SyracuseFan. I would just like to say that I’m feeling fluckin good! Victory Sunday baby!

There’s a 1,000 different things to talk about / clean up / etc. BUT… We 3-0:)
Trying to prepare to deal with Rocky's shape-shifting, lightning-quick, sure-tackling D has got to give opposing D coordinators absolute fits!

A couple of other thoughts.

I thought Jeremiah Wilson balled out today. Very impressed with his cover skills and run support of the bubble screens. Johnson played well too.

I thought the secondary issues were mostly the safety positions.

McDonald was great. I mean, that dude is gonna be a star. He’s the next great one.

Unfortunately, it Thompson looks a step slow to me. Hope he’s still recovering. The LB corp in general is great.

Darton Darton Darton. What a dude.

Offensively it’s obvious the WRs need to step up. But that grab by Brown on the 3rd down was probably the most important play of the game.

Thought the OL was great. Actually better than I could have imagined.

I’m not worried about STs….yet. Adams needs a talking to. Can’t be coming out of the end zone on that last KO. The kickers I think will be fine. Stone foot has a rough game….jitters?

I’m not going to address the atrocious officiating. But it does bother me that Dino is so passive when calls go against us.

Can’t really add much to the Shrader discussion that hasn’t been said. He was fantastic. Still worried one of his outs is gonna be jumped for a pick 6.

Beck is a great play caller and QB coach. Those handoff fakes are taught. Love the constant pressure he puts on DBs with those deep shots. He creates the PI opportunities. Fantastic offense he runs. Such an upgrade from Anae. Modern football thinker.

On to Army..
Great post , said almost everything I was thinking, add Hatcher down field blocking.

Holy chit the Clemson game is going to be an absolute war. Those defenses battling is going to be incredible. Shrader is going to need to be special.

I think that's the most excited I've ever been for a game in the Dome.
As TO once said “Get your popcorn ready” ……..Oh my , now I find myself quoting Terrell Owens , I’m slipping fast.

Not sure what’s up with IJ, hope he can come back soon.

With that said, Dino and Beck need to instill in the WRs that the difference between a good year and a great year is them stepping up and being great consistently.

50/50 balls? Need to catch those.

Balls touch your fingers in any capacity? Has to be a catch.

if Shrader is running down field, you take your man and drive him into next week.

If Shrader has to scramble, you break off and get open to make a play.

It’s time to grow up, quickly.

If not, next year should have a whole new set of WRs.

Despite what most prognosticators said, prior to the game…

Hes a step slow right now. He’d have at least 2 more sacks I can think of if Darton and Caleb didnt beat him to the QB

We won despite ugly officiating including inexplicable calls that kept the score where it ended. We were the much better team. Garret demonstrated his solid character by not scoring, at the end of the game, when he easily could have. Do we have work to do, yes. Let’s celebrate today!

Very much so.
Was really impressed he didn't try to score on that last bootleg and just took the knee. He wouldve had every reason to do so, but took the sure W instead. Classy.
i still remember Rutgers leading 31-7 handing the ball off to brian leonard 10 times to score with 8 seconds left in the game rather than take a knee so he could get some "record". we lost 38-7 and i vowed if we ever got a chance to hang points on them go for it. last night was the right thing to do. the classy thing. why purdue would take a TO unless it was just to sub in some guys who hadn't played is beyond me.

If you catch 50/50 balls 100% of the time, are they really 50/50?

And the ball touch your fingers thing is ridiculous. Adams attempt is not on him. Same with Jones or the Int.

Hatcher had one drop that was all on him. Allen ended up trying to catch the tip of the ball because he didn’t let it get into him.

Somebody dropped a TD because they didn’t secure it before running.

well the multiple PI calls against purdue saved several drives. don't think it was too one-sided.
penalties were 9-11 with us up 20 yds. as for the fumbles the dude did touch the ball OOB. the scrum...who knows what happened under there. we came away with it but whateveva. the two worst calls against us IMO was the faux face mask and the low hit. overall tho we can't really complain.

I have higher expectations for our WRs than you do.

If you’re ok with how they played, so be it.

I’ve had to see people say IJ can replace OG, Alford was about to break out, etc.

Any WR worth a dang would say if the ball is hitting their fingers, it should be a catch.

They need to be better. Enough with the excuses trying to make these guys seem good.

The staff should have GAs hiding around campus this week, randomly firing balls at the WRs. In class, at dinner, on the quad, while doing laundry, whatever.

Is anyone else impressed by the level of tackling?

Apparently our WRS are made of glass. To have true freshman out there in a game like that is wild. Also is there no viable backup TE?
