Purdue Postgame Party...

I didnt say this last night because I didn’t want to be ants at a picnic, but Garrett playing like this isn’t sustainable. He simply can’t take this many hits. He’s going to end up getting hurt like Dungey always did, and Carlos isn’t quite good enough right now.

If you catch 50/50 balls 100% of the time, are they really 50/50?

And the ball touch your fingers thing is ridiculous. Adams attempt is not on him. Same with Jones or the Int.

Hatcher had one drop that was all on him. Allen ended up trying to catch the tip of the ball because he didn’t let it get into him.

Somebody dropped a TD because they didn’t secure it before running.
Well if they catch them 0% of the time that’s not good either. To my eyes we made one tough catch all night — that last 3rd and 11.

Aside from that I thought Shrader put most balls in a catchable spot. Not all, but most. It’s not his fault when our WRs spin like tops, time their jumps poorly, etc.

He takes some of the most unnecessary shots I’ve ever seen. Surprised at the end he slid. Figured he would backtrack to the safety to lower his shoulder.

We haven’t had a strong catching receiving core in years. I hope it’s nerves but I suspect it’s not that.
To me these guys seem more athletic and able to separate than years past. I think the hands will come. I know what Dino said is a bit lol but catching deep balls at night under lights vs day in the Dome is different

Some of the criticisms of the D are a bit aggressive. Card made some really high level passes and their receivers made some high level catches. The DBs were in good position but the Purdue WRs made difficult catches.
High level passes and really good catches by their WRs. There was one particularly where Wilson had his man completely blanketed but Card put it in a perfect spot and the WR held on even through Wilson’s attempt at a punch out. Can’t be mad at those ones, perfect defense perfect technique but the WR made a damn good play.

shredder got clocked big time running up the middle for a short gain and had his leg bent rather severely on the low hit call. other than those i don't think he absorbed too much punishment. be nice if his receivers
held on to a few balls and took some of the pressure off his legs true.

Dungey said himself that schrader is faster
well shredder isn't nearly as reckless as eric dungey was. before last weeks game he acknowledged there are time when 2 more yards aren't worth the price. i don't think eric ever figured that out and it cost him.
and with the whole MASTER OF ILLUSION fakes he ain't getting hit at all. never seen a D bite so hard twice.

We all know he did the right thing. It was the class move and I agree. But, I was texting with some folks who thought he should’ve scored. If that was FSU playing last night, does Jordan Travis take a knee? Probably not. That’s what makes Cuse, Cuse and FSU, FSU. However, I’m wondering, does anyone here think it would’ve been okay to score?

I felt it was smart so as to not to take a hit.
