Class of 2024 QB Brendan Zurbrugg (OH) Flipped to Oklahoma

Ive been editing highlight films for over 20 years. Its just one of those things I notice and try to help kids with when they do their films. You want to cut dead time. Plus this is a discussion board. You dont have to reply if you can't relate.
To echo this, it's literally the difference as to whether or not people will watch your video on a website. When you start calculating ad dollars, it adds up. It's why videos on websites are typically under two minutes and two minutes itself is long. The content needs to be disgestible.

Yes I realize all of the factors involved. I'm just saying if an analyst were to base his ranking on just their own evaluation and not what others have evaluated "offers" then I think he should get a pretty good ranking. But seeing that he doesn't have many offers I don't expect it to be too high. I feel analysts ranking rely heavily on offers to give them assurance.

Anyway, apparently Zurbrugg camped last year at Duke, NC State and Pitt and that was when Beck was still with NC State so Beck has been aware of him for a while now.

Yup. There are just way too many kids to evaluate the same. They don’t give the under the radar kids the same amount of time as others. It’s just impossible. Not every kid can cap and there’s a select few that are invited to them. They rely on looking at the kids profile and checking to see who has offered.

I’ve had several coaches tell me they won’t watch a film that’s too long. I’ve also been told they like to see their best clips at the beginning so it grabs their attention right away. Hey maybe Brendan’s film annoyed some of the bigger schools. It worked to our benefit. Lol.

Not our Beck…

Our Beck was never a coach at NC St. He was the QB coach at UVA.

Another QB from Alliance, OH. I like this!
We can only hope he adopts Len Dawson’s habits:

Ah true. I know that too. I just skimmed it and assumed it was Jason Beck. I think it didn't register because of the Anae to NC State thing.

Idk. I prefer Sprite to Fresca.
Is Fresca sold anywhere? It was a staple and treat at my grandparents' house in the 70s. I'll have to look for it in the supermarket. I haven’t thought about Fresca for years but this mention of it here gives me a hankering for it.

So it appears Zurbrugg just got a 247 ranking. Comes in at just an 0.85 which is not surprising. Has a composite of 0.86 because on3 has him as a 0.87. Rivals is yet to rank him.
I can understand this. His film is kind of strange, as we have already discussed. Most QB highlight films are 75% sprint routes down the sideline, with the QB throwing a long pass 50 yards downfield to hit the WR in stride for a TD.

I only looked at it once,, but I don't think there is one of those plays in Zurbrugg's film.

He didn't throw a ton of passes. Brendan barely passed for over 2000 yards last year. John White, another of the QBs we are recruiting hard for 2024, threw for almost twice as many yards. Heck, even Andy Bass, the super fast dual threat kid we are after out of Oklahoma threw for over 2800 yards last season.

I don't think the people doing the ratings put much of a premium on creativity, ability to save a play, etc. They want to see long passes thrown on a dime. And I am okay with that.

My two cents is that this kid is going to thrive under Beck. He is mobile, accurate, and keeps his eyes down the field. He will gain strength once in the program. I can see him starting in two years.
