I think the part that annoyed me was "And honestly, I hope Mr. Scott proves them wrong, no matter where he goes"
Really? Care that much about a kid who you haven't met, who isn't coming here anymore? So if he goes to Rutgers, you hope he is awesome?
That's when you have to take a couple steps backwards from the recruiting ledge. Unless, of course, he has a personal relationship with the kid.
So, your saying it's not okay to root for the kids? Are they just pieces of meat? Use as you see fit and toss out?
Yes, I hope he does well. I hope all the kids do well, even the one's that don't go to SU. I may root against other schools, but I don't root against the kids, certainly not one who has shown to be smart, articulate & respectful. The kids are just trying to do what they love, and maybe if they are lucky & work hard, they might some day get paid to do what they love.
The world isn't black & white, there doesn't have to just be winners & losers. Babers & Co. didn't like the kid. They have that choice and decision to make. But with SU's current QB situation, I think it is fair to express major concerns with the QB numbers, especially considering SU's recent QB injury issues. As an SU fan, I want the team to be as successful as possible, and I think another QB recruit is very important to have this year. The past two years has shown that kids who you may never expect to play, have a way of ending up being very important at times.
And for the record, He does have P5 offers, UMD, Rutgers & Tulane. And he will probably have at least a Purdue offer as well. Sure, UMD & Purdue are likely due to Shafer & Lester, but they are still valid offers from P5 coaches, people whose jobs it is to evaluate talent, which is more than can be said for any of us.
