Now this visit could very well have nothing to do with Angeli actually coming to Syracuse. It could be one of those situations where he comes to visit mainly to meet with Nunzio and company who we know are close to him to help get advice on where to go.

Seems that could be accomplished with a phone call.

no insight but this is my guess. plus, never stop trying to improve the team. if a qb on the roster isn't confident in beating him out, you don't want that kid on your team.

We should be doing stuff like this and twice on Sunday. This is what top tier programs do. You bring in the best talent fearlessly.

He was named based on the roster. Angeli wasn't portaled yet. Collins also sat out the spring with a thumb injury no?

I understand utilizing the connections we have to get a visit but this seems like a misstep by Fran and the staff, especially when the transfer you brought in won the job in the spring.

It’s a business. If they think they can upgrade any position and a top-flight player shows legit interest, pursue. Period. These kids can go and get paid, hold out, etc. It’s minor league professional sports. Don’t fault any coach for doing this in this day and age.

After spring concluded Fran said he wanted to add another QB. Am I the only person who heard him say that?

Had heard a month ago that Fran really wanted to improve QB room. When I was told Angeli would enter portal, I knew Fran would be all over the idea of him coming to Cuse.

I 100% agree. I also don’t think he should name captains until fall lol. I don’t think you should name anyone, anything publically until you have your final roster in the fall. I definitely think Fran is a players coach so I don’t think he’ll lose the locker room and not saying he will. But if you name guys captains and then they leave before the season, you name a starting QB and then you bring in another guy that could very well beat him out in the fall. Those are just ways to lose the locker room so as much as I like Fran being transparent. There are things he has to dial back. To me they are just rookie mistakes that he will learn from. This is his first ever head coaching job so obviously everything won’t be perfect

This guy has a strong accurate arm and has been the backup QB at ND for a couple years now. He is smart. And loyal. Jersey guy.with a lot of connections to our program. In his one start for the Irish, he threw for over 500 yards and 7 TDs.

There’s a lot to like here.

On the negative side, he is a pro style QB who is not going to be a big threat to run on RPOs. We know though that it is possible for pro style QB to succeed in our offense.

Having a good reputation for developing QB’s is so important.

We also had another QB visit already recently.
Fran has been pretty clear that he's trying to upgrade the team, across pretty much EVERY position.

Again - it goes back to the coach ALWAYS trying to recruit over the current players.

And it's incumbent upon the current players to be good enough, that they don't lose their starting gigs.
And if they're not, then so be it.

That's how competition works.
