That simply is not true.
If you aren’t top 25 it means you aren’t a good seed.
I am not giving you 5 extra spots because you know how to negotiate.
The top 25 is more than fair.
You can’t even tell me without looking who were 26-30 last year.

Top 25 is NC contenders. I won’t do what you say because you want a buffer.
If we aren’t top 25 going into the tournament then it’s another mediocre season.
I am not giving you 5 extra slots.

The nonconference schedule doesn’t affect our seed ranking if we play a tough schedule.
You can lose nonconference games and if you play a hard schedule get rewarded.
Why don’t you guys do KenPom? The opinions of a bunch of no nothing AP voters don’t tell you much these days.

Then we don't have a bet. I am not betting the top of the range. No one thinks we are top 17 or 18. That means you want me to narrow my range, and you have said over and over, we aren't that good. That Jb has mismanaged the roster. That losing Q for Jimmy is terrible . That losing Kadary and having Joe as the pt is a killer. Despite all of that, I am willing to take 7 1/2 seed. When is the last year we were that high? And I'm asking too much? I was born at night but not last night.
We were an 8 seed in 2019. Just sayin.

8 would be a loser for me. Just saying. And where were we seeded in all of the years since '14? That makes my case. Alsacs doesn't think we will be good. He has made that clear for all of us. We haven't been as good as a 7 seed, which I need to win, in at least 7 years. I'm not asking too much.

I am giving the coach the benefit of doubt regarding his roster construction as I can’t see him wanting his kids to not succeed, but I will be extremely disappointed if this isn’t our best team since 2014. The goal should be to win 12-15 ACC games and be in the top 25 next year. The coach picked the players that he thinks he can be successful with next year. No excuses.

So $200 basically I’ll do that. Do you play poker in Connecticut? If not we’ll just do 200 straight out. And I hope you win
200 straight works for me

200 straight works for me
It’s a deal and honestly I hope you win.
It’s a cheap price for a really good season for the team.
I am just being honest I don’t see what 0307 is describing happening.
We don’t have an inside game and our PG play scares me.
We will win games because of our shooting but teams that give effort will give us fits.

I think the top 25 of the S-Curve the committee releases is better because it’s not just one person’s poll.
It’s perfectly fine if holds to his line that is negotiations. Don’t move off your number if it’s your final number.
He has one and I have one.
Neither of us are wrong or right.

Just my take - but Q made it very apparent SU was not developing him for the nba. Current players and recruits care so much more about the nba than what is ever shared. It is literally all these kids talk about. When guys like Oshae improve 10x NOT being at Syracuse and then a guy like Q bounces to another program, so THEY can develop him more effectively, I got some questions for SU on this...
Why are you spreading this narrative? Oshae has been gone from Syracuse for three years. He’s now a professional and working on his development full time and playing three times as many games (getting actual game minutes is what makes the biggest difference) and practicing and working on skill development full time. Syracuse coaches didn’t do anything wrong in his development. As for Q, Oregon coaches just told him what he wanted to hear. They won’t use him all that differently next season than SU would have.

Learning how to dribble drive is all on Q in my opinion. He only seemed to make minor progress in that area. Its a primary skill for a SF in any professional league.

Yeah I don’t get this narrative since one could also easily argue the opposite: SU got guys like Ennis, Lydon, Malachi, and Wes to name a few and turned them into first round draft picks. Many of those some guys who were first round picks (Lydon, Malachi, Ennis, Jonny, McCullough) didn’t pan out once they got to the league for one reason or another (injuries in Jonny’s case for sure). And these are just somewhat recent names. Obviously we could go back to guys like Dave Johnson, Etan, Moten, Hak, etc. as other guys who were developed into first or second round draft picks but that’s not as relevant since coaches and the game have changed since then.

I agree strongly with your last sentence in particular. It will be interesting to watch, but I don't see QG being used much differently either. His shot did get better his sophomore year but not to the point where I think I'd want him playing much 3.

I would argue that the primary skills that teams are looking for in a 3 at the NBA are:
1) outside shooting
2) good versatile defender who can guard multiple positions.

I think those are far higher on the SF priority list for NBA scouts than being a +dribble driver. Not to say dribbling does not matter. There are many good small forwards in the league with the above skills that are not great dibblers. For example OG Anunoby -- but that being said he is an elite versatile defender.

Hot take but when I think of small forwards and dribble driving I think of Melo and right or wrong I don’t think that’s what the NBA looks for anymore.

When I think of basketball players dribble driving I think of Joe Girard cruising around town in a Pontiac with a king sized soft-serve cone melting fast.

All these kids aren’t going to be more than bench depth that can be pieces on the team.
In the NBA you got to have a role.
Quincy wasn’t going to develop that role at Syracuse.
Our system in college doesn’t develop defense that these kids need in the pros.
If you are a PG in our system you can show what the pro game wants.
We don’t recruit those type of PGs since Ennis and MCW.
Gbinije developed it in college but he wasn't a pro PG.

In this scenario I can’t help but think Girard is dressed like White Goodman when he uses the freedom of information act to ask out Kate.

And it’s definitely a trans am right

You know Joe too well.

Btw I briefly drove a Pontiac Bonneville in college that I bought off my grandpa for $1k and lemme tell you that thing rode smoooooooooooooth.

Surprisingly cool looking car too. It got the nickname Lothario Bonneville. Not a coincidence that my dating life really picked up once I had that.

I think if I had a 1980s Bonneville in college I could’ve done quite well for myself.

And if I could, we’ll as far as Joe Girard is concerned...

We were top 30 in 2019.

That team wasn’t ranked from January till the tournament and with one more win they would have been a 7 seed.
2019 was such a mediocre team and we were one win from a 7 seed.
No way I am giving you 7.5.
Final offer I it’s 7 is a draw and 6 or better you win or 8 or worse and I win.

Either way I got the bet with SUskibum
