Reality check...U-Con has put in place a better system

Give it a few years. Napier and Boatwright didn't sign up for home and homes against SMU.

Stupid St Joe's game...

A few more years...and how many more Final Fours and National Titles? And I hate UConn as much as the next guy, I just respect their résumé too much to ever call them irrelevant...when we have one title.

At some point Ollie is selling a lesser product. The Boat show, Napier, etc all signed up for us, Pitt, ND, Gtown, etc...and it would've gone fine had St Joe not pissed that one away.

Maybe, but you don't think going to a Final (and maybe winning it all) will put some wind at their backs and help their recruiting for the next several years?

Bayside, They're bringing in a nice class next year.

There's a reason why we joined the ACC; to separate ourselves from UConn.

And they're still in a good conference, they're going to play a good ooc schedule, and they'll be a regular in the tourney. They can also boast about their titles.

By your logic it makes more sense for a recruit to go to BC over Uconn.

Btw, where's Isaiah Whitehead playing next year?

Wichita State, among others, has invalidated the mid-major myth. If a great coach/recruiter is at any school they will have success especially if they are the best NE basketball program with tremendous history/success and a coach that players want to play for.

The reason that mid-majors stay mid-majors is that the best coaches leave before they become "majors." I don't think Ollie leaves before they have a crack (or two or three) at another championship.

Somehow Greg Marshall got great players to go to Wichita, KS and get to a final four and an undefeated #1 seed before running into the UK buzzsaw.

yeah the zone. Yeah the tight man to man. How many teams play great man to man? Does UConn? Or does UConn have a sr guard who is playing great that wasn't good enough to turn pro? I wonder what Waiters would look like on this team. The tourament is about guard play. And we are losing too many early.

I wish cto could come on and tell us what a great guy zls is. He should be treated just like we would be on the UConn board. Oh, and no one still wants you.

A couple of years has never been a test. It's the long term. And we won't be seeing much of Wichita state down the road. Butler for example.

They lost in the second round. The committee made sure of that one.

Their conference sucks. Temple is the other big dog, and Cincy.

St. Joe's holds on and no one here posts this stuff. This 2 week run doesn't really change anything.

We joined for a lifetimes of stability and money and not to be on the trash heap of college sports.
And in the end, that is what UConn fans can't stand. We moved on the a better place and if they don't, they will be ruined. When we talk about mid major, yes it is a dig, but long term, it's also true. A hot run in the tourney this year doesn't change that.

Ok but St Joes didn't hold on.

So you're willing to say BC has a better basketball future than Uconn?

And christ, what a crap storm of teams they have coming in next year with Louisville leaving.

This is it - and it's a hell of a last run for them. Guys playing out of their minds, the right matchups, everything going well.

People trade up in conferences to either cash out or aid recruiting to get better and better. They did neither, it's going to be a very tough sell.

UNLV was one a power too. So was Houston.

Maybe. Go back to the 80's and it wasn't close. Who is to say what the future holds? One will have $$ and tv. The other will have the AAC

I really don't care about BC. I am saying UConn goes down over the next 5 plus years due to the issues of being in the AAC, which are plentiful. This has been a 3 week reprieve for them to discuss it is all.

Buster Onley (sp) wrote a book a number of years back. the last day of the Yankee Dynasty. Someday, someone will write a book about the last run of the Huskies. IT will be a bittersweet tale. I migh even cry. I know marsh will.

Brad Stevens left for the NBA! Had he stayed, Butler would still be a power. If Marshall stays at WSU, they will be good. UMass and Memphis would be awesome if Calipari was still there. Xavier would be great if Sean Miller stayed. Army would be great if Coach K stayed.

UConn is unique in that it is sort of a destination job, especially for Ollie, not a stepping stone like Xavier or Umass. He will have a title/final four and unparalleled success to lure players. Being likable doesn't hurt, either.

What if they upgrade facilities or get into a power conference? What if things realign in 15 years and Syracuse is left out?

A destination job doesnt have home and homes with ECU, Tulane, UCF, etc. If Ollie is the real deal and he may well be some SEC school can wave over 3 mil at the guy in a low tax / tax free state.

A storied run won't change the future. The reality is out title didn't change anything for us either.

Ollie will be gone to the nba in 5 years

It is because their guys stay longer, you can't have a great team if guys keep bolting out the door after a year or two

Why do they stay longer?
