It seemed like at thanksgiving we were narrowing our recruiting focus and telling some kids, mostly LBs to walk (Walls, Logan, Neal). My question is, who are we still targeting and recruiting hard no matter what the amount of scholarships are?

QB- Kuivinen? No clue if we still have interest, he seemed like our only real option this year at the position.

RB- With this Morris commitment, it seems like we are probably done.

FB- Is Fatu back in the mix? Probably not but the fizz recently wrote a piece on him.

TE- With Thompson and Parris. We good.

WR- It seemed like we stopped recruiting receivers after Cornelius and then we got Lewis. But that is probably all.

OL- The big question is Scelfo. Are we interested? I do not know. The fizz says he may visit. So I assume that means we are interested.

DL- This is our biggest area of recruiting targets. We have Manley, Z. Jones, B. Johnson and Thomason. Will we take them all if we get so lucky? That would be great. We need some DL depth. esp DE now w/o Chandler.

LB- Staff must really like Glanton. They stopped recruiting all the others but continued with him. Seems like our only LB target left.

DB- Position also with some big fish left with Morgan and Standifer. I think we obviously take both if we get both, but that seems unlikely. Standifer is taking a visit to Boise. I hope that we can hold on to Whigham.

I am not sure how many Schollies are left, but those seems to be the targets that we will continue to recruit until the end. We will see.

thats why i cant wait till signing day nears because some of these unsolved mysteries will finally come to light.

Johnson's here if his waiver passes. Manley and Thomason seem possible.

Seems like we might flip Glanton

Morgan. Standifer's a definite no.

Did Kuivinen or any QB in this class besides Kelly ever have an offer?
With Broyld coming in, the staff was either content with those on the roster or didn't identify any QBs that wowed them.

Looking at the units:
I like our depth/size at Oline and interior dline as of the spring.
-This class gets us solid depth/size at TE and LB.
-RB/FB, WR and QB has the numbers, sort out the quality. Gotta like the two RB's we have coming in. WR-can they get open on a steady basis.
If its Nassib, and the other guys are not way ahead of Loeb. Let Charlie be the back up and everyone else can play somewhere or specials.
-DE, DB-need numbers to get right this year and next.

Am I on the mark?

Well, we offered Chad Voytik, Faton Bauta, and Zeke Pike but didn't have a realistic chance on any of them. Not sure if we actually offered Kuivinen.

Way off.

Elaborate my man.
Nassib is far and away #1 right now.
Hunt is #1 in potential.
Kinder has the potential if he can learn progressions.
Loeb has no accuracy and if they are going to move anyone it would be him.
Miller had finally got his throwing motion back to normal but the arrest probably sealed his fate.
Broyld who knows.

I would add the kicker from Garden City, NY, Ryan Norton, to the list OrangeBlood.

So it seems like the realistic targets are Manley, Morgan, Thomason, Z. Jones and Glanton.

Yes, absolutely. This kid's for real and would help the KO team tremendously, plus add another punter to the competition. IMO, it's between us and GaTech.

Loeb was mentioned as an eventual TE project, if he couldn't make the grade as a QB, when recruited. For some reason, big QBs that don't cut it usually end up at TE, and he does have nice size to build on. It might be a reach, but I think he'd be in the TE rotation by his R-SR season.

Big reach. Bringing in Parris and Thompson, to add to Addazio and Wales, I say doubtful.

Pretty much agree with your reply, B, with a couple of positional comments here:
QB: I was impressed with MK and was hoping we had room for him with Miller seemingly gone.
RB: Think we're done getting a primary target in Morris; IMO, not a program changer as some has posted, but a nice pick-up. Hope he predicts.
FB: Someone that's in place now or a preferred WO will occupy this position. It won't be AAM, though.
WR: I like both Cornelius and Lewis, but not the deep threat burner we need. Still looking at Elston Lane from Miami, but I doubt it happens.
OL: Emerich and Knapp are good adds, and Palmer is a real sleeper who could contribute early on. Emerich may be a reach at OT on the next level, so we may be top heavy at OG this class. Really needed at least one true OT prospect, like Karl or Mooney, to come in and understudy Pugh. Scelfo's intriguing, but I don't see it happening.
TE: Best class in years.
DT: Really would like to see a bigger kid added here= Z-Jines would be a nice fit. Darrin Reed of Hargrave is also an outside possibity.
DE: Johnson would be a nice add. Thomason or Manley look good, but Manley's speed is more suited to DT. Bailey, the JUCO from CA, is a dark horse.
LB: I've always liked Glanton; Griffin would have been nice, too, but Cinci grabbed him.
DB: Morgan would be a nice add for so many reasons. Possible dark horse is Omeally out of FLA.
K/P: Ryan's for real, hope we land him

Hunt and Broyld are the future of the position. You keep them at the position and develop them.
Even if they could start/key reserve at other positions ? (I have no idea if any QB's fit this)

Interesting note on the kicker, Ryan Norton. Jets ST coach Mike Westhoff is a long time family friend and mentor for Norton. HCDM and Westhoff coached together on Jets staff from 2002-2005.

I've heard about the staff looking for a walk on Kick off specialist.

We aren't recruiting quarterbacks to play tight end. We're recruiting them to play QB. Just because Marrone thought A-Rob and Catalina would never play QB and moved them doesn't mean we're going to move every single non starting scholarship QB to another position. Especially if they are next in line to win the job...

That may be true, but I'm guessing you don't give them a 5th year either.

Is Miller definitely gone for good?
He's still on the roster and is still listed in the university's directory.

I suspect HCDM may be waiting for the legal process to run its course followed by the university process (if any) before considering the situation. That's the way it went with others that were (or may) eventually (be) let back.
