Thorpe and Stony Brook head coach Joe Spallina were the two final candidates for the job, according to sources familiar with the hiring process.

Really hope this coach works out. Spallina is an established head coach. Yes he never won a title at Stoney Brook but the resources at SU are completely different. Not saying an assistant coach cannot excel as a head coach but there is a learning curve to running a program.
Again really hope it works out.

$300k. Syracuse didn’t offer him the job. Don’t know, but I’m sure he wasn’t going to take a pay cut if he was offered the job.

On a side note, I cannot believe as a taxpayer in this state, we are paying $300k for a lacrosse coach. I get schools paying for football and basketball coaches that generate revenue for a university but a lacrosse coach? SMH.

When Gait was hired in 2007, he was making $100k, which was an unprecedented amount for a WLAX coach back then.
