Rocky Long

That article also referenced a salary of 1.2 mil for SU. Seems kind of specific.

As for the "Coach in Waiting" maybe Long is also a basketball coach?

While he has absolutely no college basketball experience, if he was allowed to run his 3-3-5 defense I'd send Jimmy packing. Maybe with the 6 extra bodies we could actually rebound.

There are a couple of guys who I went to high school with who have a lacrosse school (camp, business, something, I'm not sure) in Kennesaw, GA north of Atlanta. One played for SU. That's probably about an hour or so south of Chattanooga.
Atlanta is nice to visit but traffic is OTT Bad. Only way I would live there is if my work was no more than 2-3 miles away from my house.

after Buddy Boeheim graduates next year, Dino takes over the basketball program, Rocky takes over football, and JB becomes Rocky's defensive coordinator. it is SO going to happen
You forgot Macky will be the new Lacrosse coach and Greg Paulus will be our Football and Basketball Recruiting Coordinator.

sorry, thanks for filling those in, Mark

This makes perfect sense with Dino going to Baylor

Yeah, been there, done that. My commute from Cobb County to Dekalb County wasn't much fun. Then again, when I lived in LA, my commute from Glendale to Arcadia was no bed of roses either. That's why I moved to NJ where traffic is never an issue.

Yeah, this doesn’t look like it’s trending our way. He’s leaving, but not to Syracuse.

Really does anything trend our way?

Hoke was a 4-3 guy at previous stops. He will likely free up Long's guys to go elsewhere.

If true, why would SDSU brass try to force a HC's hand in changing staff members? The guy was successful... oh and by the way, he's a friggin' football expert, not you!

Cannot stand when the higher ups are the experts, even though they know diddly dack about the intricacies of the game.

There's some chatter on Twitter that he's retiring, but the way it's worded - 'retiring as SDSU football coach' - it sounds like they are trying to say 'resigning'.

First time I've seen retiring instead of resigning or stepping down. Might be poor phrasing by the AP.

Who knew that SU could offer the coordinators over a million dollars?

strange to think he would be travelling around to talk to other coaches about stuff and planning on resigning in the same week when he could do all that after stepping down easier.

could be contractual language where he has to resign so as to aviod buyouts or whatever else there is to avoid. dont' know just sayin
