I'm having trouble finding his eligibility, do we have two more years of this kid or just one? he is damn good.

Yeah wish he had a nose for the football though...reminded me of that tourney game against Dayton when we just watched and watched and watched a loose ball. I nearly went hoarse screaming. Haven't screamed during a football game in a loooong time.

ok I remember now, we redshirted him as a frosh because I think he was hurt right, and then we decided to switch him from TE to defense. he is a playmaker on defense, probably our best player right now.

Scary thought . . . he's on target to graduate this year and jumps.

he is not playing in the NFL
I think the jury is still out on that. Lot's of games left to make a name for himself. And he was noticeable today against an SEC powerhouse.

too small. freeney was the most dominant player in college and 3/4 of the teams thought he couldnt be an NFL player, now maybe if he gets 20-30 lbs and quicker, but really all he has is a speed rush that works 20% of the time right now..

Great move by the staff to him to D just like I think Corey Winfield moving over down the road is going to pay off as well.

not sure if I get it, because 3/4 of the nfl teams were absolutely and completely wrong about freeney...means that ron Thompson has to gain 30 pounds and get quicker to play in the nfl. you could be right but the logical steps are not there to support your argument.

He's 6'4" and 270lbs. He's far from too small and much bigger than Freeney at this stage of his career.

NFL scouts have been all over SU practices checking out Thompson. Most people believe he will leave after this year.

And just think - Ron's career was over almost before it started because I remember his hip blood flow problem being a pretty serious situation his redshirt year. How said would that have been? He is just awesome!

maybe he does. but right now he is not even list in the top 50-75 of most DE draft boards. he needs a big season and have teams willing to throw a late round draft pick at someone changing positions. we have had many kids leave the last few years, how many are actually making teams and really playing in the NFL?

How do you figure? Freeney was the 11th pick in the draft!
