Rutgers on the schedule for 2020 and 2021 !!!

Sure, that would be great if I was 25 again, but that will have been 25years ago by kickoff.

I’m looking at it from a fans perspective too.

I need 5 tickets.

I don’t want to need 5 flight tickets as well...and what at least 2 nights of hotels and about 35 meals??

No thank you.

This game is daytrippable for DC, philly, NYC and CNYers.

And again, as a fan, I want good local recruits to keep going to Cuse. We will never sustain anything in SoCal.

Grand Slam scheduling.

Nobody can complain that it’s at Giants Stadium...and only 60k showed up...and most rooted for the other team...and the stadium looked empty anyway.

We are a road team who historically showed well there, they come back to the Dome and we should win them both.

Double Grand Slam scheduling.

I’ve seen a game a Rutgers. I don’t need to do that again. I haven’t seen a game at the Rose Bowl. Going to New Orleans last year was a great road trip. I didn’t look at it as a chance to get players out of Louisiana.

Then I suggest you start following a Pro team around the country.

You will see it all in 8 years.

It’s fun...

The Syracuse Rutgers games will draw good crowds. Believe it or not they are a rival

They will draw crowds because:
  1. It's Syracuse fans looking for the road back to respectability and Rutgers offers a (perceived) easy win.
  2. Syracuse fans in the NYC/NJ area are rewarded with a 'local' game.
It's not because you will see thousands of RU fans traveling to the Dome. They never have. They never will.

Give me one example of Rutgers drawing a crowd to the Dome or of RU brining more than two dozen of their own fans.
Yeah, we’ll bring 20k to Piscataway, they’ll bring 20 to the Dome.

We shouldn’t be scheduling to get opposing fans in the dome.

And it’s been proven time and time again that CNYers won’t go unless we are 11-0 anyway.

This is our best shot to get to 11-0 so maybe that 12th game will get to 40k+.

I’m looking at it from a fan’s perspective. I’d rather go to LA and watch my favorite childhood team. Driving 20 minutes to see a school whose athletic department is being subsidized by my tax dollars is not what I call a road trip coup.

I would guess most fans who live in NJ feel the opposite.

You can road trip to the Carrier Dome. Enjoy the short trip.

They brought a pretty good sized crowd, by their standards, in 2009. Lower away section was full, which most opponents do not seem to accomplish these days. Bigger than any BC or Pitt crowd I've ever seen at the Dome.

They won't be confused with West Virginia.

Well this is a lock for the dumbest post of 2018.

I was here in the 90s when truly no one cared about Rutgers. If someone started a thread, no one would take time to dispute it. If they even noticed it, they'd chuckle and move on. It would be buried on Page 10 within an hour.

It's not the same now, and your posts are proving it.

Not that there's anything wrong with it.

If this was played at a home stadium, 35-40 fans would be announced w/ an actual attendance of 30-35k.

Let's stop making this out to be bigger than it is. The game is an easy win against a team that's close to where we like to recruit. Building it up as a rivalry game, is stupid, embarrassing, and wrong. Other than a very select few of posters on this site who routinely embarrass actual SU fans, nobody sees this as a rivalry.

No. My posts are proving that there are 3-5 posters who haven't left the GRob era. I could do the exact same thing about Akron if I wanted to. The trick is to not stop harping about my own personal fixation to the point that other posters feel the need to tell me to stop.

That doesn't make SU vs SDSU a rivalry.

BC, WVU, and PSU are our rivals, and Colgate used to be one.

Rutgers, UMass, SUNY at Buffalo, Temple, and UConn are NOT on that list.

(Although various posters on this site have tried to claim all of those teams as our rivals)

Then ignoring or laughing at just 3-5 posters in the Great ORANGE Nation should be pretty easy.

Nobody is saying this is a rivalry game, I mean it should be, but they sucked for 100 years and we have sucked for 20...so nobody really cares about it...or either school.

But damn, we are playing a b1g team, a winnable b1g team 2x...1x where the Orange’s starting QB will be playing about 30miles from his hometown against his home state team...you can’t buy recruiting publicity like that.

This is good.

1. Your first paragraph is irrelevant. Ease has nothing to do w/ whether or not it's embarrassing.
2A. Yes, (a select few) people literally are calling this a rivalry game. In fact, without looking, I'm pretty sure you're one of them. But regardless of whether you are/were or not, some misguided soul went so far as to say he wanted to make RU a yearly TG weekend game at Yankee Stadium.
2B. No, it shouldn't be a rivalry anymore than USC should have a rivalry w/ SDSU.
3A. Your third paragraph is irrekevant to anything that I wrote. I never said that we shouldn't play RU, and I never said that we shouldn't recruit out of NJ, and lastly, I never said that occasional local games wouldn't be a good nod to recruits.
3B. Your point that RU is a B1G team carries as much weight as claiming that KU is a Big XII team. Yes, it's true, but nobody is going to care.

This shouldn't be that hard to explain. Let alone the geographic proximity, the BE history, and the NE alliance, and the Power 5 status...you have a terrible (but getting better) BiG10 team playing a terrible (but getting better) ACC team.

Rutgers is the perfect OC game.

Clearly, you are reading comprehension challenged.

Apprently I quoted you? I really have no idea nor do I care to look, but I guess you can’t get past 3-5 guys who get your panties in a bunch. Sadly, I don’t think I’m one of them for this never was and never will be a rivalry game.

The only rival Syracuse may have had, was Colgate over half a century ago...and I think that one went as well as our ‘rivalry’ with ped st went.

People here would rather lose by 60 to Ohio St then put a slash in the W column v another b1g team.

Seriously can't believe anyone would be against this move.

Rutgers is Big 10. Rutgers plays in New Jersey. New Jersey is close to New York.

Syracuse has a fan base in NJ & NY. Syracuse football has historically recruited said states quite well.

What about this is bad? Throw in the fact that we should.. SHOULD win these games...

Mindboggling.

I’ve had season tickets for Cuse since I moved to Jersey in 2000. Traveling to the Dome isn’t really a road trip for me.
And we'll be returning the favor in a few years. See you at Rutgers!

We haven't beaten PSU since the 80's and they have almost twice as many wins against us(unfortunately). BC yes

I remember we started 1998 with the Tenn. game and then beat Michigan on the road. Came back home for Rutgers...42,000. Probably the worst home crowd of the season? Of course we beat them 70-14 and everybody knew it wouldn’t even be a game.

Rutgers has never been a draw whatsoever. Who cares though. Just need the W.

Well this is a lock for the dumbest post of 2018.
Question. If they aren't a rival why does Rutgers hold the record by way over 2 to 1 for the most post ever in a thread on this site?
