Class of 2024 SG Aiden Tobiason (DEL) TRANSFERRING TO SYRACUSE (4/13/26)

Don’t get me wrong, I’m a wingspan guy.

One thought just occurred to me - does having a more fleshed out roster with solid supplemental pieces make our offer more attractive to some of the big boy PGs and Centers?

I know it all comes down to $$$ but it might strengthen our pitch to other names that are out there.

I would say without a doubt it does. You want to preach winning you have to show some assets in the bank.

$$$ will be a problem now because with a flushed out roster, that means you have already spent a good chunk of your funds, which means you can easily be outbid. So there are positives and negatives of doing it this way.

I mean now you are just dumping negativity to be negative with this. Some teams have committed funds to returning players too.. this is a hypothetical on top of a hypothetical. You either have the money or you don’t and it’s not easy to sort out who you can outbid given NIL war chest amounts are not public nor are player NIL amounts.

Being real = negative? I said nothing negative but stated facts. Signing players limits the amount we can spend on more players = facts You say that is being negative I say it is just saying what is true.

And I am really positive about the prospect, I think he has great potential

Like this pickup very much.

This is also the second pickup or retention where I feel very confident in their abillity to step in, along with Sadiq.

I'm pretty optimistic with MMM. Cautiously so with Kiyan and Doty.

Also, I'm not worried about 2s or 3s right now. Wings will work itself out against our lead guards, secondary ball handlers, our bigs, etc. Remember, there are a lot of tools we haven't used in the past few years on how we utilize people on O and D that wouldn't fit the 1-5 exact positions that are used.

We really need a dynamic lead guard who can apply pressure to defenses coming off the high pick and roll for whatever concepts we run. Nait George not being able to do that, even if Red wasn't a good coach, absolutely torpedoed us on offense from a very basic standpoint.

I’m not convinced we spent all our funds. I believe someone here indicated that Sadiq was receiving less than a million, which surprised me.

I won't go into it on this thread, but there's no chance White is under 1 million. It has been said by multiple insiders that he got a "substantial" raise to stay.

It's more about the versatility guys like Tobiason, Dual, and Doty can provide on both ends of the court. 2 of those guards have 7 foot+ wingspans.
That's okay, i guess. But, i think there's still usefulness in actual size, not just wingspans.

I think their plan is to try to find a Goldilocks zone between talent level and cost.

I'm skeptical. I think that's going to lead to a roster that doesn't have enough high end talent to be much of a threat.

Hope everyone enjoys scrappy basketball!

If they still pull a couple really good, low risk players at the end, then building out the depth first makes sense. You'll see what you have left in NIL $ to get those last couple guys who are the difference makers.

I think it’s pretty clear we are going with a 3 guard line up. I like Dual but I hope he’s not the starter at PG. He’d be a really good back up PG and play some SG too.

Still think/hope we add Folefac. Obviously still need to add a starting center. Ideally need a starting point guard too. But in terms of depth and players we added so far, I’m pleased. Tobiason is a scorer for sure. Doty is really good all around and will be a fan favorite. Sadiq was hugeeeee to retain and I think he’ll take an even bigger step forward this season in G-macs system. Obviously we know Kiyan, his background and the resources he has. So I expect a jump from him this off season as well. If we add Folefac, a good starting center and a good start PG. Probably add another forward other than a starting center and Folefac too. Really like adding MMM as an international prospect and equivalent to a Mickey D’s all American per scouts. That’s a talented, versatile roster.
