What recruit was the most surprising/disappointing when he went

There were several, but I have to choose Foyle. Never saw him going
to Colgate, even with the close family ties.

My understanding was UNC gave his GF a full scholarship. King Rice was another, but I think we thought we were good, so might not have been a bonafide offer. .

Tom Sheehey got away. He so didn't want SU that he went to UVA, even though the assistant coach hit the family dog with the car at the in - home.

Also, UVA flew in Sal's Birdland wings for Sheehey's official.

The part of his appearance talking about playing against LeBron in high school and about Kiyan was not included in the version of The Tonight Show broadcast on NBC last night. It was cut out, probably due to time since they did a skit earlier in the show about wine. Maybe it's included in the On-Demand version and the version streaming on Peacock. Melo's appearance was to promote his wine.

I'd seen it reported previously (maybe in this thread) although others have still included Auburn on his list. It sounds like Kiyan hasn't made a decision yet, or at least if he has he hasn't told Melo, and Melo says he's nervous about it. If he's nervous, does that mean he wants him to go to Cuse?

Hopefully Melo isn't really nervous, but just saying that. I know i won't be nervous unless I see crystal balls fall to USC. But then, I'll be more pissed than nervous.

I think JJ is gone after this season. It's generally harder for a senior to get drafted unless he makes a huge leap from junior to senior year (which rarely happens). JJ is a first rounder if he has a solid year and puts up a respectable 3 point shooting percentage. At a minimum, he's a second rounder or 2 way commitment candidate.
