I’ll say it again - he’s got a lotta Moten in his game.

Not an explosive athlete, always looks smooth and controlled.

Nice to see him use the left at the rim.
So many players these days are overly reliant on their dominant hand, when being able to use the off hand at the rim allows you to avoid getting swatted.

Melo & Kiyan’s coaches have taught him well.

When I was in high school, the first few weeks of practice all the layup lines were on the left side using your left hand.

Most players with left hand issues is learning to go off the right foot shooting a left handed layup. Once the footwork is figured out, left handed layups become easy.

Rankings aside, Kiyan's continued development over the past 12 months is what impresses me the most at this point. He might already have the most well rounded offensive skill set of anyone on the roster. He has the upside of a high volume scorer. He is ultra aggressive at looking for and creating shots for himself. His mid range game in particular continues to expand.

I initially wondered if he was athletic enough to be a big time contributor at this level. Now I think it's more a matter of adding strength and maturing physically. He has the length to contribute from day one next season as a scoring threat. I don't know how he will fare on the other end of the court. But, I suspect he's going to get a lot of minutes.

Would not be surprised to see Kiyan get significant minutes at the 2 as a freshman, no matter who his dad is. His shooting appears to be a good deal better than JJs already, especially from range. If his defense is poor, it is not like we are getting boatloads better D from JJ. If Kingz and the GT pointguard are able to create enough off the dribble, I do not think we will be desperate to have JJ out there creating off the dribble as well, like we were this past season. Plus it looks like Kiyan can create some offense in the lane too.

I see Anthony as the likely backup to both Kingz and Starling. I didn’t think he was that tall, but that listing of player’s heights seems pretty official.

Why put in such specific numbers (6’11.75 inches tall for instance) if you’re making numbers up anyway?

Any way, seems Anthony is bigger than expected. Since we’re playing three guards as our base lineup, he’ll get his chance to be a forward.

I think it might be an easier defensive transition if he plays the three spot. The two and three at SU is basically the same if we’re not playing zone. This roster is shaping up to have a lot of flexibility to where guys play.

He‘s very good at getting to his spots. He has about a complete an offensive game that we’ve had at SU in a long time. He might be a great weapon coming off the bench this year. Just don’t tell him that. He‘s going to work his tail off to start. That’s exactly what you want from a player.

Yeah the big thing for Kiyan is making shots when he’s given the opportunity. Against teams that should be over matched and you don’t have to worry so heavily about the learning curve defensively, Kiyan should be able to help in putting teams away on that second unit if he can simply hit the looks he is going to get. You can put a couple shooters on the floor at once and let your PG run the game and bust things wide open.

Without shooting and without any defense to boot- last years team was putrid at putting anyone away and that includes in conference.

For a number of reasons, none larger than bad or inconsistent PG play we’ve seen shooters fail to get in rhythm and hit most of their open looks. It’s at times felt like a curse but in reality it’s simply the fact there is no real leader/facilitator on the court in what seems like forever.

His form has improved so much more and his release is getting higher as he grows. Kid works his butt off and his improvement is pretty astounding

Saw him play about 10-15 minutes. Made a free throw and a couple of nice passes. Handle looks better than it has been. He only got 3 shots off by my count and missed them. The world played through their bigs quite a bit.

Good analysis, while he may not be "explosive" in terms of hops, he did seem to have a nice burst on drives to beat his defender.

Looked great. Sadiq is also a freak athlete who can play defense. As long as Kiyan can figure out the defensive side, he should see the court.
