That is also the logic we as fans and the coaching staff applied to Kaleb Joseph after Tyler Ennis left.
I was spectacularly wrong on Elijah Hughes but the guy was one of the 5 best players in the ACC this past season.
Only C.J. Fair, Rak Christmas and Mike Gbinije have done that for us in the ACC.

I don’t think Griffin is that type of player in year 1.
He doesn’t have to be as good as Hughes was this season to help the team. Even if he was only as good as Hughes was his first season playing at Syracuse, he would be a big help.

I think we can all agree he was a better player this season at Illinois, playing against very good competition, than Elijah was as a frosh at East Carolina. It should be pretty easy to see the production and potential here.

Ok herbstreit. At some point we all need to get on with our lives. There will be a vaccine. If not and there's no football I'm going to Mars.
The vaccine will take at least a year.

No one's per 40 minutes pencil out when they jump in minutes, but everyone's top line is different.

You are the one that wants Tyus’ brother because his last name is battle. A kid that averages less than 35% shooting, but this guy who actually produces in a big time conference and was Illinois best offensive weapon isn’t good enough?

I like Griffin and would take him, I NEVER SAID he wasn't good enough, I'm just pushing back on the idea that he can replace Hughes' production day one.

I like Battle as a defensive player at the top of the zone and a 4th guard who could develop into more in year 2 and 3.

We have 3 scholarships available.

Apples and Oranges...

I would prepare yourself for that possibility.

If that’s the case all those dooms-dayers where right to stock up on food, water and ammo because the apocalypse is coming or... at some point we’re going to have to man up and go about our lives. We can’t shut down the country for a year, it would be economic suicide.

It’s all about public gatherings and the fact this won’t be contained for a while.
I don’t think having crowds for sporting events will happen.

The economy is going to take a major hit but sports crowds could make this worse.
It’s going to comeback in the fall.

I hope we get Griffin and he sits out next year.
We could have him learn the system next year and like our impact transfers be ready after a year off.

Now if he will only stay 2 more years then being immediately eligible is what we want.

I just don’t think large crowds at sporting events will happen for a year and I really don’t think college campuses are going full of students next year.

I see online classes next fall atleast.

I think college football is 50/50 next year.
College basketball is 60/40 happening. Maybe starting later and only conference games. Not sure they will have crowds.

This could be a 20 win team with Griffin next year. I’d prefer he not sit out a year...

No inside info, but I bet he comes to SU.

I know so many people moving home (wherever that is) to be with family, given everything that is going on. And if you look at recent recruiting there is a strong and understandable trend towards players choosing the college that is closest to home.

That trend hurt us with Tape and Towns. I think its going to help us here.

Interesting point and makes me wonder if Stewart would have picked us too.

Pikell came out and said he thought Omuyri chose them because of what’s going on and they’re so close to home

good athlete and good skill set - get him here we will figure out where to play everyone later.

I wonder if he would be granted immediate eligibility (if its not passed in a month or so by the NCAA) due to moving close to home given the pandemic going on? I think he would have a solid argument.
