Class of 2017 SG/SF Jordan Tucker (NY / GA) Leaving Duke to Butler

Big IF, but IF we land Tucker, this may be one of the more solid program building classes we've had in a while.

IMO, Tucker and Brissett are legit "2 and through" guys.

Sidibe is that typical Louisville big who plays 3-4 years and we complain about how great he'd look at Syracuse.

If we land both Ayala and Tucker, I'm extremely bullish on this team next year.

Obviously, the risk is we get neither and we're staring at another bubble team. We've got to close strong here.
I was saying that his morning... "I hope sidibe can be a Louisville type big". That would be super ideal. I was also Wondering who Louisvilles bigs coach is cause he's legit too.

Just in case he's reading this thread, please state your BEST reason for why Jordan Tucker should come to Syracuse...

My #1 reason is the rabid and widely-distributed fan base, and thus the exposure he'll get playing for the Orange.
When Georgia Tech plays Syracuse at their high school arena, there will be the same amount of fans cheering for him no matter which jersey he wears.

If you're a Frosh who can play, you WILL get plenty of PT from JB.

And NBA scouts will notice.

See:
Ennis, Tyler *
McCullough, Chris *
Richardson, Mali *
Lydon, Tyler **
Battle, Tyus **
Thompson, Taurean ***

* NBA 1st round draft pick as Frosh.
** likely future NBA 1st round pick as Soph.
*** stranger things have happened...

Let's see GaTech's recent draftee list now...
waiting... still waiting... Popcorn and soda

I think it might be more relevant and fair to look at how Josh Pastner at Memphis did as far as his players going to the NBA. Anyone know about that?

You'd be as shocked as I was at how little is known about Syracuse basketball by casual college basketball fans across the country.

Outside of a couple of completely myopic fan bases in their home town this is flat out wrong. I live out of market and travel a lot and tons is known on Cuse. Heck I am on vacation now and got comments on my Syracuse shirt and JB sticking around.

I would guess that this is a major selling point that our coaching staff is harping on with JT.

Let's be honest. What's gonna get your heart pumping more- stepping onto the Dome floor on a Saturday afternoon televised on espn or doing so at Georgia Tech much smaller venue/exposure. Even visiting teams get a rush from the atmosphere when they visit. It's Big Time college ball. And Tucker, you're a NY kid with ties and made for Cuse basketball. Cuse guys are loved forever and never forgotten. Perform for the people that love you. Either way Good Luck young man!

I'd say Syracuse Football has a fanbase behind them along with a community of people who will come out and support it once we become relevant again.

Georgia Tech plays in a City/State that only cares about UGA Football, Falcons and Braves.
ga Tech has played for the national title in the last 20 years.

And hasn't done anything since, Bc has heard their name called on selection sunday more recently than Gt has.

The Braves lol, they couldn't sell out playoff games, In atlanta all they care about is College football.

A lot has changed since then..and rapidly. Much like we obviously are not still living off the '03 Title.

We do have multiple Final 4's this decade and in relation to football, have a much bigger fanbase/community to gather support from.

I'm not sure I can properly illustrate how little anyone in Atlanta cares about Georgia Tech.

Pretty much but the Braves do enough to be mentioned.

The new soccer team probably moves into a tie with the Hawks for next team up after those 3.

I have a friend who is from this area, grew up a Braves fan, went to Gtech and lives down there now, always complains how embarrassing it is how little support the Braves get down there, maybe their new stadium helps a little, who knows

Baseball is just losing support in general. Younger generations aren't into it and they have no star power.

Georgia Tech should have zero issue filling a tiny basketball arena in Atlanta...but they do, because everyone around them is a transplant or UGA grad.
