Class of 2017 SG/SF Jordan Tucker (NY / GA) Leaving Duke to Butler

nicknamed The Thrillerdome and originally known as Alexander Memorial Coliseum. Opened in 1956.
Then that's the one. McDonald's had a corporate sponsorship with them in the 90's.

Yeah just cause his buddy is there doesn't mean he's playing ball there. Just wants to see him. Syracuse basketball is on the National map/ level. I just don't see getting the same exposure at GT not to mention our venue and fanbase

You'd be as shocked as I was at how little is known about Syracuse basketball by casual college basketball fans across the country.

I think that's the case for most schools except Duke, Kansas, UNC and UK on a regular basis. Sure, teams like UCLA will get a Lonzo Ball once in a while but could anyone name UCLA's PG 2 years ago?

As long as we are on ESPN regularly and guys like Bilas, Seth Greenberg, etc talk about us, I'm fine. I don't really care what some guy in Omaha, Nebraska cares about Syracuse basketball. Just like I'm sure that Michigan State fans don't care what I think about the Spartans. It's all relative. As long as we stay in the spotlight and are relevant, I'm ok.

I had the privilege of attending SU @ GT this past season. Sadly, Cuse lost.

However, it was in all other aspects a quality experience. The facility (McCamish Pavilion) underwent an extensive $45 million renovation in 2012, and is quite nice, although not particularity large (8,600) for a metro arena... it's in downtown ATL.

The crowd was really jazzed from the opening tip, but since this was my one-and-only time there, I can't say how much of that was because they were playing Cuse. Lammers took us apart that game. It seemed to me there were a LOT of Orange fans in attendance, maybe as many as 500, although that's purely a guess.

All-in all, it's a great atmosphere, but nothing close to a game at the dome. Obviously, the proximity of Hotlanta is a plus. Anyway, that's my experience of what GT has to offer a guy like Tucker in terms of venue.

Pretty sure it was their only sellout (and/or highest attendance game) of the year.

2 points, 2 rebounds in limited minutes in first half of Jordan regional game. Didn't play after getting whacked in the head.

Maybe it's an East Coast thing but living in Atlanta and Greenville - people know a lot about Syracuse Basketball.

I have clients come into my office all the time and I have the Cuse/Duke panorama hanging on a wall and 7 out of every 10 guys always start up a convo about Cuse Basketball.

That's my experience as well in Atlanta and here in KC.

You may be right but I lived in San Jose 30 years and the fans there know us as elite. Not Duke/Kentucky elite but there are a lot of east coast transplants on the coast. Mid-America. You're prob right

I'm in Hendersonville, NC just over the border from Greenville. My experience is that there are a lot of serious basketball fans in the region who are very familiar with Cuse. Obviously many more of the casual fans are Duke or NC fans, but among serious fans, SU is very well known and very highly regarded.

If Knox doesn't go to Duke are we in trouble with Tucker? Looks like the latest word is Knox to UNC.

Would Duke offer him? I remember hearing last year that he was holding out for a Duke offer.

Looks like he'll announce 4/28 or 5/1.

Kevin Knox turned down $1.4 million offer, will play in college
I don't think so. He just trimmed his list and looks like he is getting ready to decide by getting in visits this month.

Dayum, I wish I was in a position to turn down that kind of change. I would take a tenth of that happily.

Was in Brooklyn - Tucker has the body to play the part. Tough to get into a rhythm in an all-star game. He can play, despite the stats.

Will say I think GA Tech is a legit player in this. Not sure what the odds are but at this point, I wish he had already committed to us.

That's funny because whenever I'm out of town and mention where I'm from, people always bring up the basketball program. So I have no idea what in Gods name you're talking about.
I have also been all over the country and just from my experience, people around the country look at Syracuse basketball as a big time national player.

I'll second that. A few years ago went to Niagara Falls. We sat down at a casino and introduced ourselves to some other people. When we said we were from Syracuse,NY, their first response was, "oh yeah , basketball town ."

Big IF, but IF we land Tucker, this may be one of the more solid program building classes we've had in a while.

IMO, Tucker and Brissett are legit "2 and through" guys.

Sidibe is that typical Louisville big who plays 3-4 years and we complain about how great he'd look at Syracuse.

If we land both Ayala and Tucker, I'm extremely bullish on this team next year.

Obviously, the risk is we get neither and we're staring at another bubble team. We've got to close strong here.
