Class of 2017 SG/SF Jordan Tucker (NY / GA) Leaving Duke to Butler

There will be no way to spin it, losing a recruit to Pay pal Cal is one thing, losing one to Gtech is a different story, we cannot lose this kid.
You guys act like we've never lost a top recruit to Ga Tech before (Kenny Anderson, Dennis Scott ring a bell?).

JT is probably the difference between the Tourney or NIT, but winning it all is the only thing that matters to me in the end. I'd like to keep the streak alive, and go on a run obviously.

If we land him, and Ayala then there's a chance, but we just need to reload the cupboard at this point in my mind. OB, HW, Sidibe, Moyer, TT is a good young core regardless. We will land some studs in 2018 per the usual. The sky won't fall if he chooses GaTech.

I agree with you with regards to this not being a disaster if he goes elsewhere. Quick question though, what streak are you referring to above?

Scholarships ARE a problem. We only have 1 open.

You've said this several times relative to 2018. I don't understand where you are coming from here;

For 2018-19 we will have 12 total scholarships and have the following committed:
1. Frank Howard
2. Paschal Chuckwu
3. Tyus Battle
4. Matthew Moyer
5. Taurean Thompson
6. Howard Washington
7. Oshae Brissett
8. Bourama Sidibe

At most we can add 3 more this year that would effect 2018-19. I know people would like to see us add more players, but I don't see it as a certainty that we are going to pick up 3 guys. If we did that and they were all players with more than one year of eligibility (ie. no grad transfers) we would have 1 available for 2018-19; if noone among the group left early (which looking at our roster turnover the last few years would seem highly unlikely). Maybe we should save this argument for after Tucker and two more underclassmen actually commit.

But to run with your point for a minute, this is why some argued against the Howard Washington offer. If the staff wasn't convinced that he could help right away having him on the roster could impact our ability to take a better player down the road without much upside in the interim.

If we don't add anybody we will have 4 open scholarships.
That would also tell us next year would be unbelievably bad as that roster would be scary for 2017-2018.
We are trying to add atleast 2 more Freshman for next year.
Tucker and a PG.

The third scholarship should be earmarked for a grad transfer.
As if we take 2 freshman then we would have 2 open scholarships and if Battle left we would have 3 open for 2018.

We need help for 2017 though.

Not your whole point, but didn't Autry have to fight JB to bring in MG? I think he was reluctant and certainly didn't think he was a good player out of HS. Just interesting is all...

I honestly am not sure. I know Red was huge in bringing Gbinije on board but not aware of how JB felt about it or anything. Him not thinking he was a good player wouldn't surprise me at all seeing how he didn't seem to really give Gbinije much of a leash at all his first year playing for us.

The last time Georgia Tech made the NCAA tournament this year's HS Senior class were in 5th grade.
The last time Georgia Tech made out of the first weekend of the NCAAT Jordan Tucker was 6 years old.
And Josh Pastner wasn't the coach for either of those teams. He's not selling Tech's past, he's selling Tech's future.

Jordan.

Tucker.

Anything else will be deleted.
I know it's fun to digress, but when many of us see there are updates we assume most of them have to do with the topic at hand. No biggie. Just more interested in Tucker than minor pissing matches.

Most of these conversations started out being about Tucker. And most of them continue to be, at least peripherally, about Tucker and what his successful recruitment means for the program.

Then discuss what GTech means on the main board. This board and this thread is for conversation directly related to Jordan Tucker. We have had way too many complaints about thread hijacks on the recruiting board.

GTech is recruiting Jordan Tucker. Discussing their strengths and weaknesses is directly related to him. It's not like we're talking about the Star Wars trailer.

Sorry. Too many tangents. Our last word on this. Further complaints will be deleted.

Also, we have this new little toy called the Thread Reply Ban... Fair warning to all.

Walker to ga tech means tucker to Syracuse come on mj...
Is this just GT guys saying this? This is the 2nd poster writing this; where there's smoke...
So, basically waiting for GT's sloppy seconds?!

No but they both want to play 30 mins a game so it makes sense
What doesn't jibe is if both can commit to GT, why would JT just not pull the trigger now? Can't imagine GT would say sorry, we need to wait on Walker.

So we're basically the backup choice for Tucker to GTech. Wow that's pretty depressing.
If Walker doesn't go to Ga. Tech it doesn't mean Tucker will go there.
We aren't his backup. That is an educated opinion by the poster.

Ga. Tech isn't guaranteed any of these recruits. If they could get Tucker now without hedging for Walker they would take it.

And by hard you mean 1 or possibly 2 recruits given that we have 0 seniors.

Yeah, we're only gonna be able to bring in one or two. Hah.

Sorry mods. Back to Tucker. I almost feel better that it's been going on for a bit. If he wanted to stay in GA then that would be a quick choice. Hopefully he's just enjoying himself, doing due diligence, and knows that he has the keys to the 3 here. With the spotlight to showcase his talents.
